    Re: Trembling at idle

    Hi Gregory W,

I've tried twice to private message you and Laura, but it won't let me.. Here is what they did. 5334 ECM out of calibration DIAG 0.00 scanned vehicle systems with GDS2 and found no codes. Scanned each module calibration via SPS and found a newly released update to improve idle quality. Programmed ECM and performed set-up to install new calibration. I'll se if this fixes it. So far so good. Will keep you updated.

It has only been a week since it was in the shop, but so far so good. However, ever time is has been in, it has taken a few weeks for the problem to return.

Do you notice anything else from the new update? Like better/worse MPG or higher idle. Maybe more power better acceleration?

Cathycpc - thanks for the info. I provided my dealer with exactly what you said and they were able to update my ECM software (and QUE software).

I'll keep everyone posted if this helped or not...

    Re: Trembling at idle

This may have something to do with the software (programmer for over 40 years). When designing a large program, the software has to go through a loop for the constant rechecking of all the systems that it is designed to monitor. If there are a number of subprograms that the program must check and recheck, then there will be a delay. This delay may be what is causing this idle problem. Therefore, if it takes a bit of time to check the operation of the engine at low RPMs, a stall may start. So, if this number drops below 800 rpms then performance can suffer while the program resets the engine operation. I have had this problem too.

    Re: Trembling at idle

Just asked my dealer's service manager about the update for idle calibration. He says it is only for the 6 cylinder and not the
2.0t or the 2.5 engines. Can anyone confirm this? I've been putting up with the tremble for nearly 6 months.

Mine is a 2.0tT and they did the up date on it. Not sure if this fixed it. Only time will tell.

@cathycpc -- thanks for the info. My dealer hasn't exactly been a wealth of knowledge when it comes to the ATS.

Seems like the trembling at idle reports are going away. Has the problem been solved?

    Re: Trembling at idle

after i put my intake on the trembling has substantially decreased, its not fully disappeared, but its decreased by a lot.

I know though for a fact that some tremble is a result of direct injection, Toyota now has a system that uses DI and PI that reduce tremble.
