My 2.0T has a tendency to tremble at idle. I've switched to premium gas with no results. Also it doesn't alway happen, very irregular. Any ideas?

This whole thread is so disappointing to read. I've had my car for four months and all car payments made were when I had loaners. My car is experiencing terrible stalling issues. It's been in 6 times in just under 4 months. My dealership wants to help me get into a new one but can't until GM gives them the green light. GM is insisting I have a data recorder installed. I have an appt tomorrow to get it done. This morning on my way to work it stalled twice. Once again I found myself stalled out in the middle of a busy intersection. I feel so unsafe in this car. Last week it was shaking so bad I pulled over on the side of the freeway and just cried. I thought for sure it was going to stall but it didn't that time. It's such a shame, we are a GM family and I'm just shocked at the customer service. Paying all this money every month for a car most of my family and friends won't drive in. I'm petrified to drive it long distances. It shakes constantly. Radios been replaced twice, vents stopped working, lights constantly flash, I can go on and on. Even with a data recorder I AM STILL THE ONE AT RISK driving this thing. I want to have faith in GM but I don't like the way this is going. I can't even count how many times I've been late to work, sat at the dealership and HOURS on phone with cadillac and GM. Thanks or letting me vent. I better get to bed, gotta get up early to make it back to the dealership before work. Soooo tired of it.

Sorry to hear ATSGIRL but I been in this since April 16 2013.i don't understand this either why Gm just owns up to our concerns and buy these back.i know why just being stupid but this really ticks me that no recall and or buy back .i had to put this in a someone else's GM forced my hand now and still no resolution and its August.obviously safety must not be a issue because GM hasn't come thru for me since April O and that magic ECM engine software fix NOT.so what's next anybody's guess but I hope we can be successful with gm

ATSGIRL. Now just wait for the o we are so sorry reply AGAIN from customer service reps.

Thanks Bravnik, I agree.

Laura - If I thought you could help me I would love to speak with you. Yes, I have a case file and have been working with a "district specialist" - not sure if thats the same as the "GM agent" you referenced. Just made my 4th car payment and once again I am not in posession of the car. Spent HOURS on the phone with GM, they just keep telling me to get the data recorder installed, "thats all we can do for you at this time". Meanwhile I'm stalling out all over metro Detroit. I am afraid I am going to get hurt. I want out of this lease immediately. I guess I need to keep following the steps until someone can help me. Today for the first time in the 7 times its been in for service I was given an ATS as a loaner. I knew right away my car was junk - this car is amazing to drive, smooth as silk, no shaking and feels SAFE. Why couldnt that have happened to me the first time I shelled out all of this money for a new car sitting on the side of the freeway? Heartbreaking.....

Back to what Hoosier recommended. Please ask them to let you keep the loaner while they drive your car around with the recorder. Your circumstances are extreme and you should not be assuming the risk. I would think GM legal if they were aware of this they would be concerned because God forbid if anything happened to you.....

Well bluhaven. Muffin here I been in lemon law over a month now and nothing yet I want out also but no progress. I have made all my 5 payments like a good joe but nope nothing yet from GM to this date I have never in my 40 years of driving cars been in a situation as tough as this for a car.atsgirl we feel your pain

Laura we have may every effort to be patient and we are sure reading these are not pleasant and should not be going on in a luxury brand. So we see all the replies and yet I sent you a private email about the ECM update and yet no reply back.WHY?we want this CAR OF THE YEAR to exceed but there comes a time for the big boys and big girls of GM to fix it or get us relief.Saftey and reliability is the ultimate goal of any automobile company I would think.Laura give us a hint on where do we go from here

----------

Also I have a inside source to network TV (last resort)in my area he is willing to post a story about This car if I and others can't get out of this situation.that being said i am having at 11am on 8/14/2013 a car expert to drive my ATS to confirm my troubles.then we will proceed I hope to a resolution and closure for myself ATSGIRL and others affected.any suggestions or comments would be appreciated Laura or Greg

Just a comment: Once a customer initiates a lemon law procedure it is normal for the regular problem resolution process to grind to a halt. Thanks for letting us know that what happens to you at this point is NOT what those who haven't started Lemon Law proceedings should expect. So there is no misunderstanding, I am not saying or implying you shouldn't be going the Lemon law route, just that it changes the relationship between you and Cadillac as any legal proceedings would.

I think that is a good thing although it may not help you personally because of what I said above. i.e. the Lemon Law judge/arbitrator won't care about a local news article and Cadillac may just let the LL process run its course. Once legal gets involved involvement by others in the company tends to complicate things (legally). I am VERY interested in seeing if Laura, et al do ACTIVELY stay involved when a LL case such as yours that has already been filed.

Ford had a situation with Chinese built manual transmissions in Mustangs. Some owners reported they would not go into gear and left people in danger with traffic bearing down on them when they pulled onto a freeway or started thru an intersection. That appeared to be more common than the rough idle probem with all ATS engines. The NTHSA did an investigation and ABC showed an interest in doing a national piece on it but it ended up falling thru. Someohow Ford managed to convince the NHTSA that it was driver error which meant the government is no help. LoL

Let us know how the news article goes. And I hope you filed your lemon law case at the right time and really hope you get a satisfactory resolution.

HoosierDaddy, in your informative reply to ATSGirl, you made reference to "...the rough idle probem with all ATS engines." Did you really mean "all"? If so, how come most of us don't have this problem...luckily, at the present time? Not looking to be critical, just want to be sure this is what you meant.

Sorry to be unclear. I meant all variations (2.5, 2.0 and 3.6), not every one of each built. There are reports in the forums from 2.5 owners, 2.0 owners and 3.6 owners about rough idling. I haven't heard about an adjustment yet for the 3.6s.

Since we mere customers don't have access to all the facts we have to speculate. If I had to bet, I think there is some part in wide use that is not exactly as it was speced or not exactly like the counterpoints used in pre-production testing. That would explain how the problems make it into production and why only some cars are affected. Raising the idle may be a band-aid that negates the effects of the variation. That may be very acceptable. But it doesn't fix all the rough running problems and owners like ATSGirl probably have a completely different problem.

About the upping of the RPM Laura maybe I missed it just trying to help. Thanks for not disengaging me I do appreciate that I really do

----------

Flycaster the majority is the 2.5l. I was able to get a loaner 2.0l and wasn't a issue because GM was able to fix it as far as I can tell.as for the 3.6. Haven't seen many complaints.i was hoping knowingthat the turbo seems better that GM would help me obtain this we shall see

----------

Thanks mcaffey

----------

Well if it comes to that then it will be held in front of my cadillac dealer lol. Really don't need to go there if GM would assist ASAP.

----------

What sxxxs is I really like this car. Decent gas mileage if I didn't have to stop I wouldn't be in this forum and if cue wouldn't lose my signal all the time. Other than those issues this car to me would be a number 1 choice

Can a slow o2 sensor cause the rough idle issue?
I never heard of a "slow O2 sensor" so don't know what that means but if a sensor was not accurate it could cause rough running if the car is in closed loop at the time. As to whether they have checks and balances that would result in a code always being thrown in that case, I have no idea.

It can't hurt to ask them to try that. It wouldn't cost them for parts to just swap sensors between a demo (that's running smooth) and your car. I don't know if Cadillac will reimburse them for doing that kind of test which might influence their "enthusiasm".

A gentleman stop by the car expert and hooked a computer device and ran my ats in idle and in drive the car fail the a trembling test as I knew it would and he saw this o2 sensor reading. And car reacting at same time.he is taking the gathered info and supply it to my representative.where we go from here. Another wait and see he called it a slow reacting O2 sensor

----------

ATSGIRL. Have you ask or have done the O2 sensor?

Thanks for the definition. I hope this is all it takes to fix yours.

Hi Hoosier Daddy,

If a customer files a lemon law case, that person is still seeking legal action. Therefore it is treated as a legal case and we as customer service representatives cannot further assist.

One more question on this, Laura: what if, rather than a Lemon Law filing or other action involving a lawyer, the customer simply initiates an Auto Line complaint with the Better Business Bureau? Would customer service be able to offer continued assistance in this instance?

As a Senior Arbitrator, I see these all the time, and it is unusual for a lawyer to be involved.

You were probably pushing the button too hard [/bad dealer simulator]
As sad as that sounds, it's true. My dealer stated "I must have slammed my door shut" when my wood trim cracked in half. I kept complaining and told them that I would escalate the situation with someone who cares and voila, new trim piece was installed at no charge. (CTS owner, possible soon to be ATS owner here)
