I do see what you mean about the TRE's now. The one thing I like is that everything looks extremely accessible. Working on a 2.0T 6MT ATS will be a breeze from an aftermarket standpoint. The Rack on the CTS for example is embeded above the subframe and sandwiched between the oil pan, which means whever it decides to crap out it'll be a PITA and I'm sure the oil span will start leaking eventually and accelerate that. Even the motor mounts look like a 30 minute job tops.

Once you get the cover off.

All that underneath (in front) is hidden by an aero panel that has about 16 different snaps, screws, and bolts attaching it. 3 of them are behind each wheel

Nice. My B5's had that, it's not really a hassle. Mostly they get torn off by bad drivers at some point though, and they run $300 to replace.

Since we were expecting around 3,700 lbs plus the fact that it came in at just under 3,400 lbs, the numbers make perfect sense.

Great article. And it may have fanned the dying embers on the ATS-V having a V8 (praying...). Has anyone here played with CUE yet? Does it work with gloved hands? Or will I (no thanks to Ryan Gosling's character in DRIVE) have to tirelessly search for bioconductive driving gloves?

CUE is still rather buggy in the cars so I can't even tell you if it works with my naked finger (as it the buttons don't work 20% of the time).

They of course will fix all that up by production, I hope.

I was watching a demo at NAIAS, and it seemed to work perfectly. Of course, the lady demo'ing it has very likely been training on it since its inception.

Personally, I could live with out (I would rather not have it) but it seemed to work well enough that if I must have an ATS-V with it, it won't be a bad thing.

The demo video they showed was the same one they showed to GM employees in December at what they call an "All-people Meeting." You should have seen the looks on people's faces. Because not one of us has seen the system work except in the video.

So yea, somehow they filmed the one demo to show at car shows. If this thing doesn't get all the kinks worked out you can bet they will delay the car. A lot is riding on CUE being perfect.

I've heard that the XTS is currently delayed a month or two due to CUE.

Well, the fact that they're forcing themselves to delay vehicles is a big step for GM. In the past we would already have these cars and dozens of complaints about how crappy it is.
    Jesda and Jesda like this.

It wasn't a film. They had the interior of the SRX set up, and a lady from GM was showing it off live, in the flesh, as it were.

Sure hope what Jimmy saw was not a fluke. Last thing GM needs (and we as customers) is to have some finicky-ass gadget installed intended to wow the rags when some proven, old-school technology would've sufficed.

they need to wow people if they're going to distract customers from the established brands.

It seemed to work well. But it looked complicated as hell. I hope the dealers offer a free CUE training class with every purchase.
