My wife got in an accident and totaled the 2003 cts (she is fine), long story short we need a new car for her. I am looking at a used 2013 ats and want to spend no more than $18-19 cash
I have found two options in my area (Indy) and wanted your thoughts
There is one that is verified pre owned for $20k with 38k miles
I like the certified pre owned in the first version, but also like the low miles on the second option.. Really need help and thoughts here! Again, I want to spend $18-$19k cash out the door nothing more.. Thoughts on driving the price down as well?
Every late model Cadillac I see at various Cadillac dealers has a Carfax list on the window and they always say clean. The dealers get so many cars traded or off lease, that they don't need to keep those that have been in accidents.
Maybe "minor damage" is just a dent and repainted fender, compared to a more serious repair.
My brother had his LaCrosse hit bad in the rear. He told me the Buick bodyshop said they don't report to Carfax. He was wondering if a bad Carfax would later lower his trade value. So I wonder who reports to Carfax, the bodyshop, the insurance company or who?
Advantage of ATS Luxury over Base:
Brembo brakes, better mirrors(lights/dimming), remote start, can get heated seats, CUE, seat memory, leather seats, seats adjust more, rear vision camera, front/rear park assist.
Another difference is Base has regular tires with inflate kit.
Lux has Run Flat tires, which may actually be better for use around town for a wife.
If you just gased up the CTS Coupe, maybe you got bad gas or maybe cap still not on good. Drive some or add some premium gas if room. It's possible a couple restarts could reset it, if no sensor just happened to go bad.
I think you are driving yourself nuts over this. If it's only a rear bumper repaint then it's probably like to hood on my 2012 CTS that was repainted under warranty. Drive the car, if it feels right and the options are acceptable I say go for it. Unless you buy new you won't ever know what you are getting. As far as your gas cap; if that's all it was, then it will go out by itself after (i think 5 duty cycles).

Just wanted to follow up, the $19k ATS I posted a few days ago with "minor damage" on the carfax.... I was able to test drive it with th wife yesterday. We drove it up the street and I turned off all the music and air so I can hear the car, when we went over bumps you could hear something like styrofoam rubbing together from the passenger side but towards the engine, my wife seems to think it was coming from the dashboard I think engine... Anyway, I turned the heater up as high as possible and went from 30-60 mph very fast and the cabin began to smell burnt, I pulled back into the dealership and under the hood smelt very burnt. I went back in to talk to the folks there and they said they have mechanics there and are able to check it out there, I then asked if I could take it to the caddy dealership to have a pre purchase inspection and they said they would work with me on setting something up. Last night I decided to read reviews on several sites of this dealership, and I read several postings about cars being wrecked and fixed up and resold here ect.... Reading bad reviews along with my experience really pushed me away. On another note the salesman I worked with was very nice and respectable.
SO, I wanted to make a better long term decision so I went the certified pre owned route, I dropped $20k cash and financed $5k.... AWD LUX 3.6 diamond white, I can say that after driving the 3.6 compared to the turbo... The turbo felt more " rink e dink" if that makes sense, and the 3.6 felt closer to the wife's old car. The luxury trim is a HUGE plus, I am just happy to be done car shopping, hopefully she has the car for a few years.
I think you will be glad you got the Lux over the Base.
The smell might have been the heat/Ac system smell others have complained about.
I went from a 3.6 2007 CTS to a 2.0t ATS. It is frustrating missing the 3.6 sound and smooth consistant power. Although the 2.0t ATS is faster than a 2003-2007 V6 CTS.
Congrats! Sounds like it will be enjoyed for years and the CPO warranty will take care of any issues that might pop-up.
