    Cold air is better for turbos because turbos produce more power than NA by cramming in more air. But the higher the temperature the more octane is needed. The colder the air, the more the turbo can force in before running out of octane.

    Denser air benefits NA motors more than it does smart turbos like these; and thin air hurts NA engines more than smart turbos for the same reason. The NA engine is stuck with the air nature provides. The turbo takes as much air as the engine can use over a wide range of elevations.
