    Rear Parcel Shelf Removal

Does anyone have a a "how to" guide for removing the parcel shelf covering the sub, rear speakers, seat belt retractors and LATCH system components? Mine is making noise with low frequencies played through the audio system. There are threads about this and even speculation as to what is vibrating but I cant figure out how to remove the cover so I can try to isolate and mitigate the vibrations.

Can't help you, but hopefully someone can post up a service manual. I take it you don't want the GM 'experts' to do this for you?

I am about done with driving loaner cars. I'm one of the people that had the manual transmission stalling issue. I've been out of my origina ATS for more than 30 days. I have a new one now and have little energy to have the dealer have my car again. They actually tried fixing the rattle once. They turned the bass down and replaced the sub. The deck still rattles.

they have a service bulleting now and actually replace parts in the rear deck. i had mine done and it is pretty flawless now (still have rattling in the roof liner for some reason, but absolutely none in the rear deck). ud probably be in a loaner for a day or 2. worth it to me since the rattling indeed is annoying.

I would just take a printout of the service bulletin and hand it to them. I get it can be frustrating not to have 'your car', but at the same time, at least you get to put miles on someone else's car.

Here's a link for just ATS TSBs: http://www.automd.com/tsb/cadillac_m/ats_mm/

I'm going to add that to the sticky in this forum.

In regards to rattling from rear deck, assuming caused by lower freq from sub, has anyone had issues with black plastic bezel/cover around the rearview mirror where it mounts to windshield coming detached and falling off from same type low freq/bass at higher volumes? I'm sure it's a simple fix...probaly just a bad piece in my car, just don't feel like bringing it in again, I'll just add it to the list for next check-up

"It pushes my patience, and all cars do have problems, this ones just lucky I love it so much....kinda like that really annoying super pretty girlfriend, I guess I'll let it hang around, blinded by beauty"

Take it to the dealer. The tech had to remove the entire rear panel and placed insulation along the whole back panel.

so does anyone know how to remove the shelf? I refuse to be the one who looks stupid brining my vehicle in for a problem they don't believe is important.

    Re: Rear Parcel Shelf Removal

This is how it goes on STS and CTS gen 2. Probably many other Cadillacs.

Disconnect battery and touch cables together, or remove airbag fuse(s).
    Remove back seat bottom.
    Remove back seatback.
Remove c pillar trim on each side.
    Remove rear shelf.

I can't give details on the ats because I don't know.
