Help with deciding which colored interior LEDS to use?

I'm in the mood to perhaps change out the lighting within my ATS. My car's interior is the platinum (grayish) seats, black dash, platinum roof liner. I find the white LEDs too stark for my liking, and really don't mind the standard lighting. However, if I were to make a change, I would prefer some kind of muted/pastel-like colored lighting. I have done this type of lighting in my traded-in 325. I liked the reddish/orangish lighting of the BMWs dash so much, I tried to emulate it in the car's interior. As i couldn't find the colored LEDs I wanted, did it ghetto style. That is, I permanent inked the car's bulbs with a combination of red and orange markers. I think it came out great (footwell was still factory) - rather sexy:

I don't really feel like coloring bulbs again, so I'd appreciate any suggestions as to which kind/color LEDs could be used...

I like BMW orange too. Sorry nothing more to add on bulbs.

Actually, I think light blue (car is glacier blue) or grey (platinum seats) would be the right color interior LEDs, but I can't find these colors....

I've added colored LED interior bulbs in the past and it's really a trial and error process. What may look cool, sometimes isn't very practical. I had red LEDs in a former car because the instrumentation was red. It looked nice, but your really couldn't see anything if you dropped something or needed to look through the glovebox, etc.

Sometimes a nice, crisp white LED is the best option. Blue IMO is a little easier to seen than red.

I can get the blue, but grey light would just seem dim.

Agreed, blue LED is ricey. However, you'll note that I was looking for light blue. The regular blue LEDs that are available are way too dark. I'm not looking for bright lighting, but rather a nice subtle effect that would compliment the interior.

I don't mean to steal your thread, but I'm also interested in changing the interior lights. I'm looking for a color that would match the DRL and the LEDs in the door handles. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Suggest you guys do yourselves a favor and rather than tearing half the car apart (at least, right away) to replace actual LEDs, you locate some colored plastic sheets from a craft or photo store and tape them over the OEM white LEDs to see if you can live with the color...

Then tear the car apart. ;-)
