That would be very interesting. I'm going to look into that. If true, that should make retrofitting the factory HID housings with the LEDs cheaper AND easier.

    ----------

Okay, FWIW Cadillac still has Forward Adaptive Lighting for the 2014 ATS on their web site here: http://www.cadillac.com/ats-luxury-sport-sedan.html

    Adaptive Forward Lighting

To help guide you around curves and corners at night, the ATS offers available Adaptive Forward Lighting. The system monitors the car’s speed and steering angle and swivels HID headlamps to cast light precisely into your path of travel.
And the 2014 ATS printbook doesn't list any headlights with LEDs except RPO T4F which are standard (and only available on) Performance and Premium and include "Adaptive Forward Lighting" in the description.

    Hoosier, Interesting.

A search on Car-Part shows Xenon (T4F) with Adaptive (opt TR7) and without Adaptive.

Anyone have a good microfiche to search online?

    ----------

Not cheap, but here are the listings:

    COMPOSITE HEADLAMP - 2013 Cadillac ATS (22989363)
Part Notes: ATS; W/HID; LEFT; W/O LEVELING SYSTEM
    Part Number : 22989363

    COMPOSITE HEADLAMP - 2013 Cadillac ATS (22989364)
Part Notes: ATS; W/HID; RIGHT; W/O LEVELING SYSTEM
    Part Number : 22989364

Awesome. I'm guessing TR7 is for ATSs sold in markets where adaptive lighting is either not allowed by govt regulation or the extra cost would hurt sales.

If you are right (no reason to doubt it), this is very VERY good news, particularly if they are significantly cheaper!

    What is the price difference?

I'm so annoyed by the pointless headlight dancing in my garage, I'd rather have those than mine with adaptive. LoL.

I didn't want to post the site not knowing if they were a sponsor or not, but there was no price difference between with and without leveling. Both were $915 each. Now, on car-part some places had them for around $500 each side.

Thanks for not posting links to non-sponsors.

    Want to see something aggravating?

You can buy anything in that picture that has a number assigned. Notice there is no number for the housing which has the LEDs built in. You can replace any of the guts which I'm sure include the adaptive mechanism but the only way to get the part with the LEDs is to buy item #1 which is the square containing pretty much everything. LoL

I still would expect the complete assembly for markets that don't get adaptive lights to cost less. But maybe the adaptive part costs peanuts.

It's a waste of time to remove the bumper it can be done be removing the plastics underneath ..

That's how the shops make money they take the long way and you pay .

The mechanism that aims the headlights into turns is part of those units. And that function has been known to go haywire and aim the lights all over the place. It would be good to know if there is a way to disable the adaptive feature and to aim the lights manually after install if the adaptive feature doesn't work in a Luxury or base. And if it does work in a luxury and base, how do you get service when/if they have that faulty aiming problem. In the case of cars with those lights, Cadillac updated the software via OnStar. I can't imagine them sending the update to cars that didn't have these lights when built and it might be hard to talk a dealer into servicing them under warranty.

Since when? I've never heard of a single complaint or post of such an occurrence. Must be exceedingly rare.

Been happening for some time. Several posts in these forums. Not rare. Search if you care.

If you go to cadillac.com and go to the ATS and BUILD you can select 2.0T. When you get to the trim level selection you will see a link under PREMIUM to COMPARE TRIMS SIDE-BY-SIDE. Select the trims you want (only displays 3 of the 4). It will show the highlight differences by default, but you can choose the ALL tab to see all differences. The DRLs are the lower lamps that look like fog lights. Standard and Luxury trims do not have them. The upper HID headlights also have an LED DRL strip in them that lights up. (different headlight altogether as they are HID)

So does this now allow to add LED strips and retrofit them into the headlights?

No this is just the lower only. I'm going to be talking to the dealer today just to find out exactly what it would take for the uppers. I don't want to do an HID kit and I want the factory look of the upper LED. Just not sure how plausible that is or what it would take as there seems to be a few different headlights available. If it's as simple as the new housing and lamps, ballast, and harness and the adaptive headlights don't muck things up (or i can buy them without the adaptive headlights) I will have them installed. I won't buy new at $1000 though. I will scour the market. I've seen a number of them used in like new condition selling in the $350 range with no broken tabs or anything.
