leather on on door near window

I tend to rest my arm on it when driving - I clean it once a week but there is a spot that seems to have developed - it is tacky versus the rest of the leather---

is it actual leather there and if so can I get it back to normal?

I think leather is only on: the steering wheel, shift knob and boot and the seat surfaces that your body makes contact with.

There are some more surfaces than that which are leather.

yeah I am thinking it is leather because if it was pleather it would not really discolor.

    Hello Sir,

I already did for you a few months ago when you posted asking about cleaning your car. You decided to just use mild soap and water.

Okay, I didn't know how to use the search feature on this site, but I just got through playing around with it and found the thread:

    http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...quality-2.html

Also, my memory is bad: I thought I had given an exhaustive list in the thread right after cleaning my car, but I didn't. I can't remember now what all it was, but the gentle edge-the-fingernail-test will show what is what (and then after that, you can start telling the difference just from sight). The surface of the leatherette is more "pitted" for lack of a better word.

Aerospace 303 on all vinyl and fake-leather surfaces and Zaino leather conditioner on all real-leather surfaces. Just my personal preference that has kept this 10-year old interior looking fantastic. Plus it protects from the harmful UV rays.

JavaGirl and Ragtop 99 like this.

I understand but My problem is I have very distinctive discolored spot on the trim by the window - unless I have been leaking acid I am not sure how this can be since my hands are on the steering wheel more than my arm is on the ledge of the door??

    ----------

Here is what it looks like up close you can see the spot is looking brownish almost

Does anyone else drive the car or do you have any type of lotion on your arm? The reason I ask is that my wife's SUV had a similar stain and I found out that she was applying her skin moisturizer right before she drove and it was seeping into the vinyl. I applied some Aerospace 303 and then buffed out the stain. I then applied a little more as a protective coating and it's been fine ever since. Not sure if you have the same issue per the picture, but you might want to give it a try. If not, I would ask the dealer's service dept.

Really? I get skin lotion on my interior all the time. It seems to come off when I clean the car. Am I doing long-term damage?
