One of the selling points of the car was it's anticipated high residual value, or lack of high deprecation. Now, I know you always have high desperation on new cars, but this is insane.

The ad says "GM COMPANY VEHICLE". I am not sure what it exactly means. Is it one of those mule cars? Or one of those cars that were used for demonstration and people and reporters test drive it? I am almost sure that the ATS will lose its value over time more than the estimated amount used in calculation of residual value, but this one is not a normal used ATS sold by a customer.

It means one of the gm engineers or executive driven it,
I have seen company cars do depreciate a lot more for some reason.

so long as it was properly maintained and wasn't wrecked, I don't think it's a concern that it was a GM demo car

ok. Here's my suggestion that isn't written late at night. Snap the car up. If you like it, buy it now or someone else will. I'm on my 5th Cadillac, all used except for the ATS I bought new. I used to say my favorite feature of Cadillacs is the depreciation, so I of all people shouldn't be surprised by that. I was just hoping it would be different but I wanted a new one so I did it. My other Cadillac is a 2007 DTS that I bought used in 2007. It was also a GM car. It had 17K miles on it, so a GM car with 8K is good. My DTS was in perfect condition, and anything that does go wrong likely won't have been from abuse, but normal warranty items that are covered. I had no problems with the DTS. One interesting thing about the DTS is that they didn't wipe the Nav. system so it still had all of it's addresses programmed into it. The car had been driven around Detroit and Ontario so it was likely all highway miles. So, when you look at it, check that out and you can have some idea if the car was all city or hwy. miles but with so few miles it doesn't matter. I personally would not hesitate if it's the car you want.

The same dealer has another one, red premium V6 AWD, same price, only a couple thousand miles

I'm going to call about it in the morning. The dealer is over an hour away though. Not going to get anything sorted out on my trade without going down there

Since it has a clean carfax and factory warranty and is being sold by a Cadillac dealer, you could buy this and just have it shipped to you.

It is a company vehicle so it was returned to the manufacturer and repaired by GM. Still seems like a good deal. He has other company vehicles like that in his used car inventory.
