Re: Can you automatically close windows & sunroof?

I agree 100% with the ATS needing a key FOB sunroof/window vent option. I'm that guy that cruises around with the windows cracked, sunroof tilted and A/C on full blast just because I like the air movement. I also live in Florida, so it rains without notice for an hour and then it's bright and sunny. It would be really nice to be able to keep my interior temps down by cracking the windows and the rain out by shutting them, all through the key FOB...

With Rain-sense the car could close roof and windows if it rains and return them to previous location when it stops.

Is it my imagination, or have you been getting more acerbic the past few days?

I think so, but I am serious about having rain sense close the top and windows if it rains when parked. It should be cheap to do and one ups the competition.

Nice idea...only problem is how would you get around having to power rain sense constantly (don't forget, engine is off) without battery drainage? I guess you might have to use some sort of capacitive storage device....

I don't know how much rain-sense draws. If the factory battery is borderline for continuous, they could also close things up and shut off rain sense before too much is used. And rainsense would only be needed when a window or roof were open and this option was turned on. All closed or option turned off and its not needed.

Re: Can you automatically close windows & sunroof?

I had the sunroof closing feature in my 1999 STS. The sunroof control module was wired up somehow via a relay so that when I turned the key off, the sunroof automatically closed. So I suppose another relay sensed an absence of ignition power and closed the roof. Great feature, I loved it. Of course it's not available on my my new CTS which is 16 years newer. Called Cadillac or checked with dealer, came up with nada.

You can just imagine some knucklehead had his head sticking out of the roof, accidentally kicked the ignition key off and took his head clean off. Since it's 2015, this would have likely resulted in a lawsuit blaming GM (because nobody takes responsibility anymore for their own actions) and GM pulled that feature out of their vehicles. Sorry, I've become such a cynic in my old age.

My old BMW from 2002 opened or closed the windows from the key fob. I also had it hacked to close the trunk from the fob. This shouldn't be that hard to get done IMO.

You can submit suggestions to Cad Cust Service.
It should be easy to have a program option to close
windows when car turned off, just like the options to
unlock doors or not when car turned off.

New Designers either drop some features or they fall through the
cracks. One cool first gen CTS feature was programable
buttons on the steering wheel to do what you wanted them to
do. They went away in CTS Gen 2.

On my old 2000 528i, I used to be able to open all the windows and sunroof by holding down the unlock button on the fob. Believe it was pressing and holding lock to close everything. Great feature.

Re: Can you automatically close windows & sunroof?

On my coupe, just like my last CTS coupe, the windows lower slightly when you open the door and raise again once the door is closed. I know this is done to ensure a good seal on a pillarless coupe
But it shows;at least that the technology is there and operates, so there is no reason why it couldn't be adapted to provide further travel.

We need to reinstate natural selection so they can't reproduce, strengthen the gene pool before its too late.
