Bike rack trailer hitch for 3.6L ATS?

I'm thinking about putting a trailer hitch on my new 3.6L Premium ATS to use with a Bike rack. Any
suggestions on hitch brand, type and supplier? Also is it a good or bad idea to put a hitch on an ATS and will one fit properly?

Can't say I can help, but I am looking for something similar. I would even be happy with a good trunk rack, but I'm not sure how it would fit with the shape of the trunk.

I'm planning on adding one to my ATS (after it arrives). I found that Curt makes one. It's model C11311. Take a look at etrailer.com.

I ordered a hitch through Uhaul and had them install it. The hitch was sold under the Uhaul brand but it's actually made by Curt. hitch_pic.JPG

    HMM nice picture but

    please helps here

    I saw on a website

Trailer towing maximum (lb / kg):
    1000 / 454 (3.6L)

    Does that mean with a 2.0T i shouldn't even tow 500 lbs ?

Also are there any ''hitchless'' bike racks available for this car ?

    Thanks !

No that means you can only tow 1000 lbs or 454 KGs. Not much but plenty to hold up a couple bikes.

I am about to order mine as well. I understand that there is no roof rack solution for the ATS. I have looked into trung mount but they are a huge compromise (my bike is carbon fiber). I will be ordering the curt hitch. Apparently you need to drill a hole in the frame to mount it (I'm not a fan of this but seems no other way).

I have ordered the swagman semi 4.o hitch rack. It holds the bike by the wheels only and can be configured either 2 or 4 bikes.

roof and trunk racks will eventually effect the paint. In my opinion the hitch is the only way to go. Besides once you invest the money in a hitch rack it will outlive many vehicles as they will mount to any vehicle that can have a hitch.

    PS.

    Where do you guys ride?

There are provisions in the ATS’s body structure to accept a roof rack but so far no one makes one. There are depressions formed into the jambs above front and rear doors to allow clearance for mounting hooks. I’m not a big fan of roof racks but without a folding rear seat my skis need to go outside. Bert

I was talking aboutthe fact that there's a (3.6L) as in only the 3.6 is made to tow, i'm concerned since i have a 2.0T

    is that true ?

9- 71 in the owners manual.

    Trailer Towing (With L4 Engine)
The vehicle is neither designed nor intended to tow a trailer.

I would not sweat your 2.0T hauling a few bikes especialy if you have fewer than 4 passengers and stay within the GVWR (silver sticker driver side door jam) and the max cargo weight listed on the tire pressure/load sticker (yellow/white sticker) same area on drivers side.

Re: Bike rack trailer hitch for 3.6L ATS?

I have a 2013 2.0T and ordered a DrawTite / HiddenHitch from etrailer.com because I didn't want anything that I had to cut or drill (It is a 3 year lease car).
I ordered it in May 2013 and it took until October to arrive, but by then I had finished biking. Today I tried to install it and the holes were drilled too close together by 0.75 inches, so I have just started chasing down eTrailer and the manufacturing company.
Has anybody else installed a DrawTite 24901 or a HiddenHitch 60334 (they are the same hitch made by the same company).

You could have a machine shop turn the holes into slots by milling those that are too close by 3/8". Bert
