The deal is done and the wait begins

I finished the pricing up and put a deposit down on my ATS lease today. I'm currently out of state on business and won't be able to pick it up till the 4th of February.

I opted for a 2.0 premium with sunroof, cold weather package and polished rims. It's white tri-coat over red and carbon. It's a slushbox model to facilitate potential fiancee driving.

This will be my new daily driver to complement my solstice gxp weekend mobile.

I bought it entirely over the phone and Internet and couldn't be happier with how easy car buying has become. With about 2 hours of clicking and calls I had 3 Cadillac dealers pitching deals. 2 days later I had the low price locked down and the car on hold. I don't think I'll ever negotiate at a dealer again.

When you get it you will not regret it. This car is the real deal. I've had mine for just a few days and I'm constantly learning new things about it that was not written about in the catalog. You'll see. Your soon to be wife is going t love it just as mine is right now. 😝

Congrats! If you'd like to disclose it, what is the monthly "note"

Any tips on negotiating over the phone? Whats the general idea, do you just ask for the manger and get the quote on lowest price?

I did this a few times, used Edmunds email the Internet Department option. Did not even have to call. In one case, a dealer farther from us offered the best deal no locals could match. They delivered the car right to our door, we signed papers at our house.

    Like ordering a pizza.

I actually started with truecar.com you enter what you want and then you get the top 3 lowest prices from local participating dealers. They then pass your info on to them who call you. Don't think that the truecar price is the low though because I got another couple thousand off in the bidding process I set up between them. In fact it was the 3rd place dealer that ended up being the lowest. I found Internet departments are a lot more aggressive with pricing because it's a lot easier to go to the next guy.

For my pricing structure, I went with a lower down payment and higher monthly so I could keep my money in savings to further offset interest rate since it was so low. I forgot the final selling price of the car but I had a 3 year 15k lease with a 58% residual and. 0005 money factor.

Adam, that is truly wonderful news! Congratulations on your ATS! I'm happy you enjoyed the buying process as well, and don't hesitate to email me if you ever have questions on your new ride. My email is Katie_Lucille@gmexpert.com, and I'm happy to provide its build sheet for you if you send me the last eight of its VIN.

Hope you'll post pics in February when you get the chance!

    Many happy miles,

    Katie

I will give Truecar a try next time I am ready to order. I used to rely on Edmunds, but lately noticed they seem to have some serious bias against the ATS, not willing to answer questions, their bloggers keep bashing their long term ATS test car, some of the issues seem ridiculously trivial.

I havent used edmunds for some time but I do recall their pricing on used vehicles to be pretty inline with actual pricing. Much more acurate than kbb. I dont think youll ever see a perfectly glowing review of the ATS. Ill be honest I know Im probably not going to be fully satisfied with CUE. Ive spent some time in the cars prior to purchase and it lags in every instance. Its really a cadence thing that I will eventually get used to but it could still use some significant refinements. The part that concerns me most is the HVAC controls as there is no way to avoid using them. Thats also the main reason I leased and didnt buy. Hopefully CUE is fully ironed out for the new family sized CTS for a purchase in 3 years.

The best part about the truecar site isnt necessarily the price but the dealers you get in contact with. If the dealer is on the site it means they are willing to deal and in most cases without a whole lot of fuss. I priced both the ATS and a Taurus SHO though dealers on the site and they were much quicker to answer and faster to drop prices than dealers I cold called or went in to see.

On a more exciting note, I talked with the dealer on Friday and my car has arrived to them from the other dealer and it is in their storage area waiting for me. Im working on them for pictures but its offsite so I doubt it will happen before I pick it up.
