    Re: Tried out automatic braking

Maybe I've just been lucky but the only time it ever applied (forward) braking when it shouldn't have was that parking lot example I gave a few posts back. It has done the rear braking a couple other times because of steep driveways, etc. Other than that every time the collision alert comes on it is for a good reason (like i said before, a car is turning off the road and I'm expecting it so I don't slow down)... and even when that happens it has not applied the front brakes. Maybe my forward braking isn't working like it should? Or maybe it's even smarter than it looks?

I don't know, but I'm kinda glad I didn't fork over the extra $3300 just to have that system....doesn't appear reliable.

    Re: Tried out automatic braking

I wanted the ACC for the most part, which works perfectly. Never cared for the automatic braking... was just an added bonus. The rear cross traffic alert is also insanely useful when backing out of parking spots with cars on either side of you. I never had a problem in past cars without it, so I'm not going to say it's a lifesaver... but it has definitely alerted me a couple times to cars flying past that I wouldn't have been able to see for another second or so. Works really well.

So the features I forked out $2800ish for (supplier discount) work reliably and fantastically.

Don't do what Volvo did. Semi trucks aren't very forgiving....
Well I tried the bed sheet trick but made two mistakes, first I hung it in front of a brick wall and second I was going 60 mph.......
