    Allante Literature

This kind of caught me by surprise. I was looking for a quite rare book about my Bricklin SV1 ("Bricklin Gold Portfolio") - Basically it's the same as the "Cadillac Allante Limited Edition Extra" with copies of magazine articles and reviews.

The only place I can find in stock (and not RIDICULOUSLY overpriced) is in Australia, but I found a book store in Seattle that has only car books, brouchures, and other memorabilia. From the looks of their website, I thought they might have one so I figured I might as well check with them.

They didn't have it, but I did find a hardcover book entitled Cadillac Allante by Giorgio Bocca. It is not the same as the coffee table book sold by Allantesource! In fact, I had never seen it before.

They wanted $130 for the book (Already found on Amazon for cheaper).

Anyone else heard of it? Thought I might as well throw this out there.

Never heard of it but have to have it (but not at $130). Sounds like a fathers day present from me to me.

book arrived less than $40 delivered from Amazon. Actually better condition than stated. Similar to the coffee table book that many of us have purchased. Wouldn't pay more than $40. Will post pics tomorrow.

Interesting companion to the "coffee table" book delivered by dealers.

    That is indeed it.

I don't know what they were thinking charging $130 where I went. That's more than a 200% markup from the deal you got.

have the mindset of, if you're going to have a car (or any hobby, for that matter), you might as well go all out. I was surprised I had never seen this book mentioned before.

I'll get mine off Amazon when I have the cashflow. Probably won't display it with the car, though (as I do the coffee table book and dealer brochure).

    Re: Allante Literature

very interesting perspective from an Italian author writing a book that is produced in Italy. Andrea Pininfarina (at age 29) starts the narrative as a child from a designer's not manufacturing's perspective. Interesting building of the new plant always thinking of handling the greater than "8,000" contracted yearly production. Can almost feel the Pininfarina passion.

Continued with the rest of the book and in summary as stated above, a perspective from the Italian and stylist's point of view. Very nice compliment to the other book in the picture above. Nice $40 father's day present. Wouldn't pay much more. I was also very surprised Bill that I had never heard of it either.
