Find owner by VIN or LIC Plate?
This is so frustrating, there is an Allante with a for sale sign at a repair shop near me, has been sitting there for several months, when I first called on the car the shop owners says it belongs to a customer, and it was her late husbands car, she wanted 3500 for it.. 2 days later I go see it, and he tells me it's 5000.. now ( six moths later) I write a formal letter to the shop, asking they forward it to the owner, the shop calls me and tells me the owner wouldn't possibly take what I'm offering, and he wouldn't even give her my letter.. shop owner says he "knows the convertible top on this 88 is worth 3000 all by it self, he saw it online" I try to mention that it is the hardtop, not the convertible top that has some value, AND it's really the 93's not 88's( but I really didn't feel like this was the time to try and educate this guy on the differences between phase 1, 2 & 3 cars OR how 88 all came with hardtops, what these cars go for now,etc...), but he's adamant, and then won't tell me who owns the car so I can talk with them directly... I'd really like to save this car, it is just sitting, is absolutely filthy and it's just baking in the California sun..
Anyone know a way I can find the owner by VIN or license plate..
( besides just calling DMV and telling them this car hit mine in a parking lot?)

Re: Find owner by VIN or LIC Plate?
People have an inflated view of the value of these cars based on the original MSRP. It sounds like the shop owner either thinks he's protecting the old lady or he's trying to take advantage of her.
