aside from the looks of the streamlined body, the unequaled luxury,
the power, the lack of jelly-bean design, this Allante has one more
advantage.
*** - I dont take any riders along, except for one and she better be wearing something sexy.
no trips to homedepot, not trips to the airport to pick up families at arrival,
no taking her kids or my kids on any outings / dates, ZZZZIIIIILLLCHHH ...
try that in a ElDorado or a Seville or a DeVille or a Escalade or a etc ...
lets see, luxury, looks, and companion ....
go ahead .. ANYONE .. give it a shoot ...
i'm ready ...

Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
Hmm, i take mine to homedeopt, the firehouse, heck ive even gotten my german shepherd (she is small admittadly, but still a shepherd) in behind the seats for a 400 mile trip....but then again i enjoy all of that, if i dont want to go somehwere or give somone a ride, i can always blame the car for "running funny" even though it never really seems to do that.
Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
Posted on corvette Forum but it sorta fits. For the first part of the story if it was an Allante, they'd go in the trunk. For the second part of the story, the Allante would work great --try it! --------------------- Corvette is really a family car! The new style '84 Corvette was my daily driver while my wife and 4 children had the big Chevy wagon. Wagon needed service so I said to wife to meet me after work and we'll leave the wagon for repairs. Never dreamed that she'd have the 4 children with her. so had no choice but to pop the hatch window and pile them in. (ages 8,4,2,2-would probably get charged with endangerment today!) just as I loaded up the last one, I looked up and there were about 25 salesmen laughing their _ _ _ _ _ off. Twenty some years later I still buy cars there and get reminded by someone of that day!. But it truly was a family car! Each of my children and I took 4 days and three nights around their 12th birthday for a trip with Dad in the Corvette (say Allante here) to anyplace of their choosing. One choose the aquarium in Chicago, One choose NYC, another DC and Gettysburg, and my son and I did Baltimore's inner harbor and new ballpark. Greatest individual time ever spent with each child. They still share stories at family holiday gatherings. highly recommend it. Truly a family car!
Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
not exactly..My Allante, I have found holds just the right amount of passengers, and just enough cargo. I've taken it to Costco, and Home Depot and found it holds all I need ( a 2 person household) and it's the best for that weekend getaway for 2 up the coast for a weekend at the spa or up to the mountains to see the leaves change and get some apple pie. Plus it still gets respect from the valet at the four season's when we drop in for lunch, they keep it right up front with the Rolls and Mercedes, yet it takes 15 minutes for them to send someone to the back forty to pick up my 740, and it cost a ton more and is WAY newer.. .. one might say it's pretty close to being the perfect car

Matt,
you let the valet guy without a license drive it ?
Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
Both times the Valet guy only drove the car about 40 feet, just off to the side of the entrance but still in the front driveway, and it was still there when I came out.. but I was still pretty tense giving up my keys, and I watched them pretty intently until they parked it and got out.

I let a valet guy drive my MK VII, i watched pretty intently also. when we were done and he picked it up, i saw him come down the ramp and bottom the frame at the ramp dip .. popped both front suspension bags, sparks and all. talk about having my day ruined. What did i get? "sorry about that, send us the repair estimate" as the flat bed tow truck pulled away with it. You ever try to ride home with a date on a tow truck? not pretty.
The Allante is even lower, by about two inches. There is at least one member that had the front bumper damaged in a similar manner.
