Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
Hey Stealth, I think I would have had to kill someone! funny, I have a Mark VII too, and the only front end thing I worry about on mine is those damn impossible to find again marchal fog lights!.. I went 2 years without them, and now am EXTREAMLY protective of 'em ( I've banged them into more then one dip and curb myself.).

ahh, yes. they look so cool, but i dont really use them.
the Allante, is known to drive often with nothing but fog lights, long story.
what year MK VII? '88 LCS black/black, moon roof, no cross-hairs sight.
interesting. I'm finding a lot of guys that own Allante also own either a Stang or a MK series. must be the V8 and the Recaros.
BTW, the marchal fog lights on the Stangs of the mid-80's are pretty much the same thing. I should know, i also got a '86, ragtop GT.
dont tell anyone, but the LCS is faster off the line, faster top speed, and much much quieter than the "A..." car. I also wish the MK VII sports Recaros with the drilled leather were on the "A..." car. oh, it gets hwy 5 mpg more than the "A..." car.
shhhhh

Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
I know what you mean, my Mark is an 89 LSC, bright White, light grey interior ( Lincoln called it "platinum", I think) sunroof, all options, no cross hairs either.. I believe that ornament was only on the bill blass and standard marks.. yes, faster off the line, better Recaros with better range of motion and a seemingly bulletproof drive train ( as long as you maintain the TV Grommet that holds the kick down cable or rod to the throttle ) and all the parts are cheep and easy to get as well as outrageously easy to work on ..it's almost the opposite of the Allante... I have a feeling that if any 80's American Cars ever become major collectibles , our Marks will surely be the ones, they are the 57 chevy of our time, powerful, cheep, easy to customize and up the performance, and there were tons of 'em built.. same as the 2 generations of mustangs from the 80's ... I would drive my Mark across country any day, without a second thought, the Allante (and it's damn near perfect mechanically) I stick within 200 mile radius of home ( the limit on my Auto club tow policy) but I still like that nobody knows what my Allante is, or don't see them around much.
Re: Allante - no kids, no passengers, no cargo ...
Thats funny, I have a 97 mark viii pearl with tan buff inside.
It will leave my allante in the dust anyday 290hp, and doesnt have 1/10th the electrical gremlins.
BUT there is something alluring about the A that makes me keep it.
Maybe its hoping that someday it will be worth more than I paid ?
