Rear Speaker Howling on 88 Allante

I had a clicking sound on the cassette player (cassette going on and off) and couldn't get the radio to work, but I could hear radio between clicks from the cassette. Took out DIC and found problem with cassette and repaired it. Pluged connections back into DIC while still out of dash, turned on radio to check my fix and got loud howl from right rear speaker. The clicking sound is gone, but now all I get is that howl. I looked through my Allante service manual and can find nothing at all on the noise or what would cause it. Did I blow out the amp on the speaker(s)? The noise is too loud for me to listen to other speakers to see if radio is actually working. Noise goes away when radio power is turned off. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Try the allantesource.com web site. Probably failed Bose amp. I have used Seville amps from the same year that I removed from the speaker enclosure at a Pick n Pull yard. I eventually got the correct amp and replaced the Seville one, but I never really noticed a difference even tho the amps are car line specific. Might be a inexpensive alternative?

Larry, my cassette is making the same clicking noise. What was the problem
with your cassette player? I was thinking the belt, which looks like a bear
to change.

This is a 3 year old thread!!! yes, it needs a belt. its broken. e mail www.allantesource.com for an exchange tape player replacement.
