    1989 ABS cycling

Hello - My 1989 abs is working fine, but when the pedal is depressed, I hear a cycling sound about every 10 seconds and when it cycles, all my lights temporarily dim. Any ideas - do I have impending failure of the system? Thanks for the help - John

It is normal for the pump to run briefly every time you step on the brake pedal, but this should be only for a few seconds. On some earlier models, the dash lights do dim a little when the pump runs. It is not normal for the pump to cycle on and off every 10 seconds when your foot is on (or off) the brake pedal.
