    Engine control system fault

hi my 89 showed engine control system fault, and wouldnt start. towed to garage where i was told needs new distributor and wires(done) car ran like crap whereas before the fault message car ran fine, scanned car and was told need tps(done) so i thought "genious" installed idle speed controler, found new "genious" who said i needed ecm(done) system fault still on car still running bad installed tps, no help at all running out of "geniouses" i also found a cracked rear exhaust manifold, which was replaced.only current codes are E41 and E55. any thoughts before the next "genious" touches the car?

    Re: Engine control system fault

E041 shows a problem with the Hall Effect Switch (cam sensor). That is located inside the distributor. Sometimes the wiring connectors inside the distributor disintegrate with age. Or the sensor itself could be bad. E055 shows TPS misadjusted.

    Re: Engine control system fault

Thank you, replaced the cam sensor, no more codes other than E55 throttle angle out of position, i recently ordered a repair manual on ebay, i will address the E55 problem myself when i get it, i really love this car and im in for the long run.
