Yes I'm watching a few items. The hoists on Ebay appear to only have hooks on each side plus one for the rear. I'm not to confident in that arrangement and would prefer a system with a bar under the top. However, I've no experience with hoisting tops and would like to hear from some who have had hoists, good or bad.
I tried to make a hoist arraignment and found that the back of the top is the heavy end of the top. I hooked onto the top at the furthest points back of the side windows and it was still back heavy. It became apparent to me that it is a very awkward piece to handle and gave up. Even if you can lift it off the car it tends to want to spin and is very unstable. Maybe someone that has a hoist will post with more info. but I came to the conclusion that it just wasn't worth the chance of dropping it. Good luck!
Hi. You can buy an electric hoist at Harbor Freight for under $100. I have one, attached it to two ceiling rafters and using water ski rope, I tied a loop around the 2 header locator pins, a loop around the 2 B pillar locator pins and one loop around the rear latching hook. Then it's "anchors aweigh' and up to ceiling it goes. Easy peasy.....Good luck.....
Thanks for the info. In the interim, I elected to buy a hardtop stand (Ebay) and cover the trunk lid with towels and cardboard so as not to scratch the paint with the "hook". Ask a neighbor over and within three minutes its on or off. Could cost me a few beers but uncomplicated.
