    "Change Engine Oil" Problem

The "Change Engine Oil" message came on recently on an '89 Allante I recently purchased. I changed the oil, although it appreared to have only about 1700 miles on the last change. I am not able to get the Oil Life Index reset by pressing and holding the Average Economy and Range buttons as the book says. Anyone had this problem before and able to help me out? Thanks.

Once you have the Oil Life Remaining displayed, then press the reset button and hold til it Zeros. Hopefully this will work.

No luck with that either. It is at zero now, I think it is supposed to go to 100% but nothing changes.

Some information given in the owners manual is wrong. The second button is the AVG SPEED button, not the AVG ECON button. The rest of the procedure is correct.
