    Transmission Issue, Hard Downshift

This is my 2nd Allante, its a 1990 and its a non N*. Ive only had it about a week, on the test drive it had no issues. I now have it home in New Hampshire from Rhode Island and the downshifts are hard. If i accelerate it shifts up at about 30 MPH and about 4000 RPM. It seems high to me. If Im driving and i need to accelerate up a hill and put my food down it slams down a gear. Upshifts are almost perfect. if i let my foot off the gas and manually put it into 2nd it will go smoother with no gas, than i shift back to D and it will shift up fine. I have read about the vacuum modulator, does this sound right? also read about the throttle valve cable.. a possibility. Any help would be fantastic. I love the allante's and would really like to fix this and make the drive more enjoyable.

Sounds like a TV cable adjusted too short. Any good trans shop should be able to adjust it in ten minutes. Having the factory service manual would allow you to do it in the driveway. If you have access to any Cadillac service manual from that era, it will walk you thru it. The Allante just used a different attachment point.

I found out that my car was shifting hard because the engine was way underpowered due to 3 bad injectors. Just thought people might want to know.
