    I have a 1989 model Allante & can't turn key to start engine

    find Steering colum has to be moved up or down until you find the right spot and then the key will turn to start the car. Most of the time the right spot is with the steering colum all the way down. Called local Cadillac & he would not even talk to me. "Help" My e-mail is seeyasolong@yahoo.com

    You probably have a failed "rack" in the upper column. A lot of wrecking yards have contacts to repair/ rebuild these early GM columns. You might ck that out before sending the column away. It can be repaired in the car.
