I've restored several car's the latest is a 73 duster 340 the one before that was a 85 gmc stepside which actually got me to this site I traded for a 1989 allante the car is mint normal wear & tare after looking over the post's I have found a wealth of info ready to be tapped into such as per Earld radio woes i'm having the same problem & will be following this. this car is a new challenge for me after researching it i'm looking forward i'll have many more question's & a lot of learning to do I want to say thank's in advance & bear with me while I learn the ropes of this site
Welcome Fox, I too am new to Allantes and learning as I go. I took the radio out and sent it to Dick Hussey in Fla. for checking. My 1990 have 72k miles and is is very good shape except for a lot of odds and ends from sitting stagnant for a long time. I am on the road but only thru learning about things on this site. Keep looking and I am sure the answers will show up. If you like send me a message and I can send you my e-mail address and we can talk about our issues. I have yet to understand why these cars are high maintenance as the parts are from standard Cadillac engines and brakes etc. I think it maybe getting at parts that need fixing. I have found the maintenance easy so far and I have given it a tune up, new brakes, and work on the top switches. Its mostly in my opinion is the not knowing how to do certain things that make it a pain. But once you get past that its easy. At least for me. Good luck .
