I took my car to the stereo place and found my tuner amplifier is bad. But while I found that out The guy at the shop didn't know whats going on with a Allante and the back of the soft top will not now fully seat in the lock. It did when I put the top up but now it only latches in the first detent. The guy at the shop said that all he did was to pull the release cable on drivers side. Not knowing what it was for. I have tried on several occasions to get it to fully lock but no luck. Is there a trick to fully locking it? When I did it it was quite easy to do ,but now I have no clue.
The motor and bracket was loose and I tightened all the bolts but still no luck. Any help appreciated.

Re: Raising soft top issue
This is hard to explain in words but I'll try. With the soft top folded up and locked ( with the red handle by the drivers side quarter glass) so the back window is vertical, raise the hard cover up so you can look straight down to the pull down latch. Just in front of the latch jaws is a metal piece shaped like a narrow triangle. That piece MUST be parallel to the latch jaws. If its bent back away from the jaw, it will not allow the J hook to stay engaged to the fully latched position. Gently bend that piece back to the latch jaw. Ideally it would have about 1/32 inch gap between it and the latch. I've used water pump pliers to move it. When you engage the soft top J hook into the pull down, slap it into the latch, not gently as most do. I would have the J hook up away from the pull down about an inch, then slap it into the pull down.
