I just bought a 1990 Allante and I don't know a lot about the car. So, luckily I found this site and have begun my education . I understand there are different phases of cars. Phase 1 & 2 . How do I know what I have being a 90. I understand the 90.5 is where it changes from 1 to a 2 . I am asking so I will know what I have but also my hardtop may be different (it is due to interior being black and the top has red headliner). I need to know about how it latches or will it latch or do I need to modify it ? I don't know if the latches on the top ware compatible with the slots on the car. My questions will be many and some may be stupid but they are important to me. So bear with me and Ill be returning the favor soon I hope. Thanks for any help .
Does anyone have pictures of the manual latching mechanisms for the hardtop ?
Can I buy new latches for the top? If so where do I get them ? Or do I have to hunt them down?

Re: Hardtop info
You are correct that the '90 model year changed from a Phase I hardtop to a Phase II during the year. If your soft top has manual latches for the front, it is an early 90; if it has motorized pull-down latches, it is a 90.5. The Phase I
hardtops all had the manual latches; Phase II had a tool that allowed the hard top to latch. The Phase III hard top was the same; the weather stripping was different as the faux vent windows were eliminated on the 93 (and the
headliner in the 93 was black fabric; earlier hard tops had headliners that matched the color of the seat leather.
Hope this helps.

Re: Hardtop info
Thanks. That clears up a few questions. Does anyone have any pictures of a phase 1 top latch mechanism and the window where they latch onto. I think I have some pieces missing. Also not sure if the pieces I have are the correct pieces. I do not have a hook mechanism on the latch I have a barrel type attachment that slides into a slot on the windshield frame that secures the top in place. one side is missing the barrel assembly. If it is the correct pieces the convertible top should be the same as the hardtop ? So, I can switch the missing piece with one on the soft top ? I have looked everywhere for an exploded view of the top pieces but cant find anything.
