How do I remove grime on windows

I just bought a 1987. The car cleaned up really nice except for the windows. They have what looks to be dried water spots. There seems to be a lot of products available over the net but not much available at local auto supply stores. I want to get this glass clean. Can anyone help?

If it is hard water spots try some diluted vinegar and water, about 1/2 cup in a quart of water. If that doesn't work, try using glass "Ceran" cooktop cleaner, you can find it at most appliance stores, Home Depot, etc. The last thing I would try is a powder called Bar Keeper's Friend? sprinkle on a clean, wet cloth and work in small circles. When complete use Rain-X for long lasting protection.

I've tried vinegar, gas, ceramic top cleaner, fine steel wool, Comet, and nothing seems to touch it. Although the vinegar had the best effect. The glass under the windsheild wipers is free of this surface defect. This leads me to believe that it is still something on the surface. I will have to try Diamonite has anyone use this?
