    Rear window difficult to latch

The rear window is very difficult to latch on my newly acquired 91 Allante. When putting the top down, one must raise the rear window and latch it before dropping the top. My rear window raises up just short of easily latching. To get it to latch, I have to apply a lot of force to raise the window the last half inch before it latches. It appears that the top fabric is hitting the rear quarter window and thereby stopping the rear window from raising high enough to easily latch. In fact, the headliner is a bit torn where it hits the quarter window.

I have the factory service manual and cannot find any adjustment one can make to this assembly.

This can't be right, as it's so tight that my wife cannot put the top up herself.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix?

Re: Rear window difficult to latch

As you raise the glass vertically to latch use your forearm to fold the top down in between the rear and middle bows. If you don't fold the fabric down between the bows the stacking height will cause the bows to bind and it will be harder to use the red latch.

Re: Rear window difficult to latch

Thanks for the reply but that's not where my problem is. What's happening is that the fabric is hitting the rear quarter window and thereby stopping the rear window from raising high enough to easily latch. I just published a video to YouTube showing where it binds. The video can be found at http://youtu.be/t1_C6v2ufSo

I watched the video and I did not see where you folded the material down between the bows as you raised the back glass. I believe as the material is pushed down, it will come away from the quarter windows.
