Need to restore the leather on the shifter
Has anyone restored the shifter, leather on a 1988 Allante?
If so how do you take it apart and what did you use on it.
Mine is very worn and I need to paint it, would appreciate any help if you can give me.

I would recommend SEM products, and highly recommend using satin clear over the dye.

Re: Need to restore the leather on the shifter
Turn the ignition key forward, but dont start the car
shift down to whatever the last setting is on the shifter
you'll notice a horizontal slit in the shifter, and theres a metal staple looking thing in it
using something flat and thin, pry that staple out
pull upward on the shifter handle, it should come out with no issue
press the white plasticky thing that protrudes from the remaining black shifter piece and move the shifter back to park
