    Remove the inner carpeted panel behind the driver seat that surrounds the rear speaker. It slides forward in a track. Once removed look inside behind the gas filler recess for the manual release lever. Alot of people add an extention to it that reaches just beyond that carpet panel once its reinstalled. While the panel is out verify voltage at the release solenoid there. Most times its simply a matter of lube on the hinge or dielectric grease applied to the wire plug on the solenoid contacts to restore operation.

    Thanks for the info, but I got lucky the connector at the switch was loose
