    Delayed Start

A new "feature" of garaging the Allante for the winter. I went over yesterday to visit and giver her a start. I cranked the engine for a good 5 seconds with no luck of turning over (it did crank). I waited a 10 or so seconds and tried again. This time she turned over after a few seconds of cranking.

I've noticed this the last few times I went to start the car. It's almost as if it's waiting to get gas, or the right mixture for combustion.

    Re: Delayed Start

We used to have winter storage discussions a lot on corvetteforum. The consensus was if you don't drive the car on nice days in the winter and bring it up to full operating temperature for a while, it's best to just let the car sit until spring. When I stored my summer car here, I put a Battery Tender on it every 3 weeks until fully charged. Now I store my car away from the house and bring the battery home to store and charge. BTW, thanks for the reminder. I just ran out and hooked up the charger. It's warmed all the way up to 13 this morning. Woohoo!

    Re: Delayed Start

Owning a certified 'Garage Queen' I've always found that when it been a while since the last start, that if you turn the ignition on and off a few times before you start it; the injectors spray enough gas to fire it right up. It's akin to the old days of pumping the gas pedal it to get some gas to the carburetor before you start the car.

Thanks for the advice...I will try that.

As far as storing, it seems to me much easier to start the car every few weeks and take out for a drive then prep for storage. I just don't have the time to take care of all that...can be a little time consuming!
