Is this only when cold, or only when hot, or always, or ??? Possibly a fuel pressure regulator problem? Try this- turn the ignition on for a couple seconds, then off for a couple seconds three or four times before trying to start the car.

when cold it didn't do the trick still stalled twice, gave it some gas and started and idled nicely. Warm and it started first try.

The idle speed motor should be almost fully extended upon restart. Cold, it should idle in park at about 900 RPM, then slowly drop to approx 700 within 2 blocks. I think the ISC is either sticking, or not getting a signal to extend on start up. Moving the throttle moves the throttle plate instead of the ISC doing it I think. The manual spells out how to retract the ISC (engine running) to verify nose switch clearance and it also spells out how to command a full extension to verify TPS voltage reading. I would do both to confirm the ISC is working.

    Greetings,
My mother is having the same problem with her 2001 DeVille and the dealer can't seem to find or want to find the problem. I was wondering it you have found the problem yet? Any imformation about this I would greatly appreciate.

    regards

A 2001 DeVille is completely different than a 90.5 Allante. 2001 DeVilles had issues with crank position sensors intermittantly failing, causing the engine to quit ramdomly. The dealer cannot verify because it usually never sets a code. The dealer can tho verify if the 2 crank sensors are the early or late design by color. If old design, replace them as insurance, they WILL fail.
