    Re: Cooling fan fault???????

On an 89 there is a module located in front of the right front wheel behind the inner fender. It controls operation. Mine did this and both fans worked? Determined that the high fan speed was not being turned on so the computer turned on that message. I replaced the module and all was well. This module because of its location gets very warm in operation which I believe causes failure. The module was also used on 88 thru 90 Eldos and Sevilles and is mounted just behind the grille, passenger side. Because its in the air flow, it lasts longer. Try www.allantesource.com for another or visit the local wrecking yard.

Thank you very much... So the '88-'90 Eldo/Seville are the same part and are interchangeable?

Yes, same part!! I now own a 91 so the fans are wired thru relays unlike my 88. I found out about this module by accident being interchangable. Its worth the minor expense to find one off a wreck.

Keep in mind the Allante was a shortened Eldo chassis. So many things like calipers, pads, turn signal switches, express down window modules, Cruise control servos, wheels are interchangable.

car has two fan modules, different controller modules for the A/C fans than the radiator fans.

Yes, interchangable. Stealth, never saw a second fan controller module on my 88??? There were 2 plugs on the module. One I assume was for radiator fan, the other for condenser fan. Never saw a reference in my service manual either.

    No, not that.

What I meant there are two different modules.

The one by the firewall controls the A/C blowers
The one by the radiator controls the radiator fans.

and both are not the same ...

Now, reading this above, to clarify ..
my '92 has no RADIATOR FAN module / CONTROLLER ?

It (the '92) does have the A/C blower module, I had to replace it already.

No radiator fan module on a 92. System is now modulated and engaged thru the ECU and a relay.

    Bill,

the school of hard knocks can be painful and bloody at times .. but it does create permanent memories & data records within the gray matter between our ears .. now .. retrieving that data, is another story.
