I just bought and personally removed a bumper off a "parts car" that was a nicer can than my own car! WOW. What a sin. '92 w/92k miles red/black. He said it was about his 15th Allante parts car. He said he gets some so nice he drives them around for a couple months before dissecting them and sending them to their graves.
Lots of good parts there, folks... and pretty reasonable. He's in Knoxville, TN. Here's the Craigslist link, if you are interested. http://knoxville.craigslist.org/pts/647412302.html

Marc | allantesrus has been doing this for at least 6 years along several other Allante dismantlers. There are three in TN, two in FL, two in CA, etc .. THAT is al they do .. Allante buys and dismantle.
they provide a great service to the rest of us that need parts.
it is a value decision .. I will be completing the retirement of two '88s in the same manner by the end of 2009.
Car value = $1,000 t0 $2,500
transport = $400
Parts = $4,000 to $5,000
the math dictates the outcome ...
note: Save your bumper .. the Factory Service Manual shows you how to fix it .. Part 10.1 of the manual.

His handle Coolparts lead to some problems for some guys. I think it is all in how it is approached. Bought 3 or 4 parts from him. One was bad and he promptly returned $ including shipping both ways. I have no complaints. A friend Scott Flack (765-532-5759) has actually visited him in his travels. I know he drove some of his "parts cars" for long periods as they were that nice.
as Stealth knows, I parted a 90.5 that was bought as a driver but had concealed problems. I received $6200 for the parts (still have black phase 2 seats, all window glass, pass door regulator and some miscellaneous, hood and trunk lid) so it is obvious that the parts are greater than the whole. Good luck. |

My HOA would scream bloody murder very quickly. Them I'm not afraid of, my wife now that is another story. luckily, I had access to my non-driving Mom -in- Law's garage. Would work until I drew first blood and then would close garage door and go home.
Flacko told me the guy in Tenn?Ky? was way way up in the hills. |
