| Air Injection Control Valve vacuum routing I noticed some deteriorated hoses on my 87 going to or from the AIR valve. One runs from the valve up to a mushroom like rubber fitting just under the intake plenum. That fitting just stops there, and I cannot figure out what it is supposed to do, how it can work, and what the effect of the deterioration might be. Likewise, my hoses seem to run a little differently than the diagram. One little hose seemed to come from the valve assembly, then into a 10" [approx] molded plastic pipe that plugged into something in the area toward the driver's side fender. It pulled out of wherever it went, and I cannot seem to see anything into which it should fit. Likewise, mine has a hard plastic 3 way fitting, but I am unsure where each of the hoses or plastic pipes that connect to that 3 way fitting go. I cannot seem to find a really detailed picture of this in the shop manual. The AIR system is covered in the manual at page 6E-C6-5, with a pretty good diagram 6E-C6-4, but I seem to have more lines, and the manual does not make the destinations very clear. If someone with an 87 could take a peak and make a diagram, I would be forever grateful [actually, at 64, I really can't guarantee just how long that gratitude may last, but it will be heartfelt]. |
