For those that wish to find a good buy go to craigslist.com for your local cities and take a look.

I'm finding a lot of Allante cars there .. at well below the eBay prices. The supply is now exceeding the demand in a big way.

Many of these cars are reaching the critical low end of prices, this is the time to buy. There is a point of low pricing on any car where it makes no sense to sell as a car, when the value of just a few parts far exceeds the market value of the whole car .. THAT critical low price has been reached on dozens, if not hundreds of these cars.

These past week I have seen over a dozen Allante cars, running in nice condition, for under $2,500. A few even under $2,000.

Before the winter ends, BUY BUY BUY !

What the market will do when spring arrives, no one knows.

What I am seeing now is people choosing to part the car, a running car, rather than spend time or money fixing it, trading it, or selling it.

Why?
Simply stated, the value of three items is starting to exceed the market value of the whole car:
- headlights
- tail light arrays
- grill

After that, its gravy money.
- bumper
- hood
- hard top
- seats
- deck lid
- wheels
- DIC
- cluster
- electrics
- sheet metal
- glass

One wonders why there are a couple of fox grabbing every car under $2K and parting it? There you have it. Profit!

There are over 200 cars FOR SALE just right there, ebay + Autotrader, not including Craigslist.

There are hundreds of Allantes FOR-SALE
it is a buyer's market for this non-collectible collectible.

Yesterday, my query returned 563 Allantes for sale in the US, all sources.
I know some are listed more than once, but the numbers are mind boggling.
Any and all years of the Cadillac Allante .. 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1990.5, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1993 V4J

That may well be about 1/10 of the surviving Allantes.
Also, each week we are now seeing several cars parted. a handful of new ones each and every week.
The salvage yards have a bunch. 2 years ago, it was difficult to find even one, today there are many.

Dont agree to pay the outrageous prices for salvage yard parts that were being charged three years ago, the market has changed in favor of you, the buyer. Prices of parts are down by as much as 70% as compared with only two years ago.


Often, the myth of the "hard to get" Allante parts is supported by people's ignorance of the market.
Its your money, the salvage yards would very much like to take as much as they can ...

I found my allante recently on craigslist. Got it from the origional owner who bought it new and kept it up in perfect condition. Sold it 1000$ under kelly blue book value. I've found alot of good deals on there. Check it often because the good deals go quick. Plus if your looking to sell something it's free and only requires an e-mail.

There are so many Allante cars FOR SALE, it is unbelievable.
Every Cadillac Allante model year, 1987 1988 1989 1990 1990.5 1991 1992 1993 1993 V4J

All seven year models look alike, small cosmetic differences, but huge technology leaps, three different engines, four different transmissions, two different audio systems, etc. The two highlighted models, IMO come equipped with the best standard OEM equip. Much of the technology that you enjoy in the later model GM cars, was born there with the Allante. Some of it, was too expensive to flow down, and you will find it only in the Allante models, and some of it not even on the last year model.

Both the Hard Top series of the "10" sequence and the soft top series of the "12" sequence. Read Cadillac Allante XYZ Facts if you dont understand the "10" or the "12" comment, the VIN segment.

That car was driven home .. the guy was thinking "fix it" ...
when he found out what it cost to fix it, he started re-thinking
his logic .. I'm not sure what he has done so far but I know he was
considering parting the car and taking that cash to buy something else.

His $500 car could yield $2,000 to $3,000 in parts assuming the right parts
were in good condition.

$500 + sweat equity = profit

seat equity: labor to remove and market the parts.

An observation ...


In 2003, I saw 2 cars being parted all year.

In the month of July 2008, I counted 19 cars being parted and sold piece by piece in ebay and craigs.

this is a Phase II 1990 1/2 in nice condition .. ...

Sharp as a tack,4.5-motor. Body straight, no wrecks and dark interior, black rag top in excellent shape, 89,000 miles on it and many more happy miles to go.

Seriously, Stealth was an unbelievable help, being my eyes and ears in California. I owe you big time! Some of you know I've owned Vettes over the years but never was helped like those of you in the Caddy Community. It's been fun.
