It works, lol, and I guess its nice looking. Still, I cant get over a design studio often associated with Ferrari putting its name on a piece of consumer electronics. The price is good enough that I might actually purchase one myself. |

. | The positives of this hard drive is that you get 350 gigs of space for under $125 bucks. Also, the pininfarina logo, sleek looking case, fast speed (7200) and circlular strobe lights make this unit look high tech. The negatives are that this is definitely not a pocket drive -designed for a desktop or home base, it takes external power to operate with an AC adaptor, and its big in size. That said, I'm not sorry I have it for the storage space, price, and the impressive sci-fi light show when its operating. By the way, they do offer a similar model with a firewire plug. |

can it operate with the USB power, is the AC optional power or a must ?
IF it will run on USB power, one could use it in the car with the FM Modulator.

. | It appears that Simple tech is coming out with more florescent colors than an Ipod. They also appear to have up to 1 terabyte drives as well. The link on this page is for a 3.5 inch which I have. However, they now have 2.5 inch! I'm guessing that these do not need an external adaptor, so one can enjoy 250 gig for your portable listening Allante driving pleasure. Just look at Sunday's Best Buy add in your Sunday News and one can see all the exposure the Pininfarina label is getting! They have blueberry, bubblegum, marshmallow, cool mint, kiwi and black cherry in addition to blue and black. Labeling worked for Starbucks - maybe it will work for the Allante now? |

I was going to post about it when I bought it a few months ago.. It's used as a backup drive for my MacBook Pro.. Yeah, I was surprised at no Firewire too... But, it does a good job...
