For the most part, that is conjecture. The soft top covers lift because of one reason .. improper engagement and lock down to start with. The mini-covers do not affect this one way or another, or at least I have seen no evidence of that.
They do dress up the car very nicely and they do keep debris out .. that is it. I dont use them, they are a pain in the ass to install and remove .. oh, BTW, my car has hit 100+ mph top down, NO minicovers, and has not executed the soft-top-cover-air-brake procedure.
Most damage to the mini covers occurs when the operator forgets to pull them before unlatching the cover.
