cooling fans

Temp gauge just over half way after fans kick in. Fans seem to cut in late . about two to three marks after center unless I put on air conditioner( runs at mid point). Also fans go off as soon as car is turned off. I think I read you can change when the fans go on, if so how. I would be happy if fan comes on when you start the car. I have done this on my old Jags and it works fine.

Are you getting a cooling fan fault message? Do you have a factory service manual? There is a procedure in the ECM overrides section to manually turn on the fans to see if they work the way they should. The fans are programmed to come on when needed. They are supposed to go off as soon as the car is turned off. The first step is to see if there is something wrong or if they are working according to the way they were programmed. It sounds to me like there might be a problem, or you could possibly have a sluggish thermostat.
