Summer soon so we can do some meeting in UK.We can ...
Hi from not so sunny Suffolk. Got myself an SRX last year had a few minor faults but seem to be sorted now. Cough cough had a glitch today but seems ok now. I only found one dealer with exception of Baer miller ( biggest twots ever, I have my reasons both with cad and ford ) who would help. Can't think of name for now but they are in Surrey, a Saab dealer but they have a few caddies on the four court.
Sorry, but I've only just seen this - but then I seldom get past the technical forum!
I was in touch with gino9 & we were going to meet up at the big American show at Billing Aquadrome (Northants) but nothing came of it & he's been very quiet since.
I've recently been exchanging PM's with a guy in Holland wo said "there are few to many active non-US located Cadillac owners on here" & he's right. Of course the passive ones may as well no exist (although I must admit, to start with, I was content to read & learn).
It did occur to me that perhaps there should be a European Chapter - maybe the UK's a bit small: after all the Owners' Club only got a few 100 members.
Bauer Millett ARE the Cadillac dealer for the country & generally considered good, if expensive. However you can only speak as you find. You are probably stuck with your local Vauxhall dealer (which may still havea Cadillac or, at least, a Chevrolet sign outside) although that's all supposed to be changing in 2015 (or is '16?). Time to go & find a good independant yank specialist.
Automobile(s): Allante 1989 export, 1998 SLS RHD, 1999 STS parts car
Re: To all Cadillac owners in UK
I'm in the UK with 3 Cadillacs, Yes 3.
I have an 89 Allante export (Very rare)
A 1998 SLS and a 1999 STS parts car, I figured it was better to get a parts car rather than struggle for parts all the time.
When I first went to Vauxhall for parts they didn't know what I was on about "This is Vauxhall not Cadillac" the spotty faced kid at the parts department screeched.
I'd robabaly have as many, if I had somehere to keep them - lucky you!
I didn't know there was an export Allante - or a RHD SLS (I thought only the STS was imported, at least into Britain). Then, I joined the forum to learn!
You are so right about a parts car, chasing parts can be a real pain (e.g. RockAuto usually have the bits, at a good price & delivery time is good - but you can't rely on the accuracy of their on-line catalogue!).
It was suggested that I should look for a better specimen - & keep my STS as a parts car because it's so straight - but it's the old space thing again!
