Judging by the fact that only 11 blogs have been made since this feature was introduced, I suspect that not too many people will read this. For those of you that are however, allow me to share some highlights from my journey to eliminate nicotine addiction from my life.

I've been smoking cigarettes for 15 years, and I was one of "those guys" who was always going on about how "I could quit anytime I wanted", and that "I wasn't addicted- I just enjoyed smoking". After deciding to put them down forever and five days have passed, let me share something with you:

I was addicted. Addicted as HELL.

I know nicotine is no heroin or crack, but I was blissfully unaware of the power it had developed over me in the form of addiction until I tried to quit. You honestly have no concept of what the word "addiction" really means until you've experienced this. I smoked a pack a day (20 cigarettes) for over 10 years. That's seventy three thousand cigarettes (give or take a few thousand) I've put in my body in a decade. Here's just a little taste of what that kind of addiction does to you when you decide to quit:

First it was predictable: My brain going "You want a cigarette. Go smoke a cigarette. I'm going to make you jittery and uncomfortable until you go smoke a cigarette." I can handle that, and did for two days. F you, brain. Ha!

Then it got a little more insidious....

The next tactic my drug addicted brain employed was a nasty one- the sneaky "positive" method. It kept popping into my thoughts with the brilliant idea, "Hey man- you're miserable. You've done such a good job so far, but you're suffering. Just smoke one little cigarette to take the edge off, and then go back to being quit." That's a pretty devious tactic brain, but I'm not giving in after 4 days.

My brain however, is still not willing to give up.

I'm in day 5 now, and the latest mental process is "Man, after 5 days you're still miserable. You're going to be like this forever, so you might as well just go back to smoking. Seriously- why prolong the agony? You can't live the rest of your life like this, so just cave in and light up."

This is my own brain, which knows I'm slowly killing myself, conspiring to get me to start smoking again. This is addiction, and it's a nasty, nasty thing that you can't possibly understand unless you've lived through it.

I worked out my daily cost and number of cigarettes smoked though, and since quitting on Friday I have already passed on smoking over 100 cigarettes at a cost of roughly $25. That's one of the most sobering thoughts that keeps me going- the fact that I was smoking over seven thousand of those nasty things per year, at a cost of over two thousand dollars.

2 grand a year to slowly kill myself AND stink in the process, and I'm addicted to it. Unbelievable, eh?

a.k.a. the guy that made a diff out of steel
a.k.a. Nutzabout_v
a.k.a. HPJim
a.k.a. Jim

I hang with the Corsa guys and one day one of them comes over my house and says "you gotta drive this CTS-V, it has a Z06 motor in it!". So I did, and knew the minute I hit second gear that I would own one. At this time I was gung ho on getting a new Challenger but only automatics were available. I saved for months and finally found an 05 on carsdotcom and bought it just from pics with a money transfer. Well I got lucky, after the car finally shipped from North Hollywood to my home in Cleveland, Ohio it was well maintained and loved.
Mind you I have a lot of years at the drag strip with numerous cars (mainly my Grand National), 3 days later while taking my highly skeptical father for a ride I broke the diff power shifting into second. Like many I came to the forum as "Nutzabout_V" looking for answers and threw up a small bitch. In that thread someone replied "be a pioneer, make a cast iron one just like the aluminum one", It was forum member The Tony Show...
http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...ml#post1273224
It was then that I realized that this newly released car had unchartered ground for a need for redesign. I stopped bitchin and got with a seriously talented friend at a machine shop and scanned the p.o.s. aluminum diff, bought a block of steel, and proceeded to duplicate the stock diff housing with steel, but with many improvements such as diff cooler plugs and extra bearing lubrication. I mounted the steel diff in my car and changed my name to "Nutz" here simply because you have to be Nutz to risk the money just to be able to power shift.

I then proceeded to put 7k miles on the car which included a trip to V-Day1 and my world was set on fire after a few laps around the Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit.

Again I saved for months to reach a personal goal which was to own the new 09 CTS-V Supercharged monster. I made it happen and truly have spent alot of time passionately understanding this great car and trading stories and information here on the Cadillac Forum. This forum is filled with people who are truly inspired by not only by a great manufacturer but one that represents intelligence and success.

The one and only diff built sits in my garage wrapped in a towel on a Papa Johns pizza box and awaits someone with either the balls or the money to have one in their car too.

To me the diff represents the fact that I followed through with a promise I made to member's here that I swore I would build.

Why only one?
The shop that built it was dismantled as a result of not only our failing economy, but lost contracts to China. Therefore it became extremely expensive to make more.

I love my Cadillac STS-V and thought its quick and gets the stares I am not excited nor do I have that must have it feeling. I am 38 and have owned more than 20 different cars all mine in my name not parents friends cousins etc....mine. I get bored of cars very quickly and though I have only owned my STS-V 3 months I am getting that feeling again....then I stomp the gas and the feeling passes.

Anyway where are the cool exciting cars at? The last GM that excited me was my 1995 Oldsmobile Aurora. i saw it at the 1994 NY Auto Show and I know I must have it!! I was too young too afford it but the previous GM car that excited me was the Buick Reatta...wow I love that car.

Its not about power but just the look & feel that excites me. The 1995-1999 Aurora was the last wow must have car GM has ever built.

My previous car was a 2003 745i Sport and it excited me but still not as much as the Aurora or Reatta.

I like the looks of the new G8 but its still a meh car even the GXP edition.

I am not bashing the STS-V but to me its simply a nice car.

In case anyone is interested (which I highly doubt)

I am your proto-typical suburban automaton. I have a lovely, if a little obsessive wife, two utterly adorable, if slightly maniacal children, two sedans (one rather fast) and an suv. I have a house that is too far from my place of employment, and West of it, which means I drive into the sunshine both ways, and I even own a lawnmower and a snowthrower.

I spend 12-15 hours a week traveling back and forth between said house and said place of employment, while my out of work wife tries not to pull too much of her hair out trying to develop two dysfunctional kids into something resembling well-mannered offspring.

Did I mention I love cars? It's pretty much what keeps me going. Ever since I first drove my dad's 1985 Monte Carlo SS, suped up to 450 bhp (before the bottle) I knew I eventually wanted some American muscle to call my own.

Which is what brought me here. My 2005 CTS-V IS American Muscle, yet with a full dose of Euro-sedan dynamics. An E-ticket ride that almost doubles as a daily commuter. Almost, but not quite.

Which is where my 2006 CTS 3.6 comes in. Unless you are on a racetrack, it serves up about 95% of the V's prowess with about triple the ride comfort. If owning a performance sedan is a compromise, these two CTS fill each others defficiencies rather well. And since I bought them certified pre-owned, it was like getting two nearly loaded CTS for the price of one brand new CTS-V.

Other than that, I am a rather boring fellow. If, for some strange reason, you are interested in my somewhat checkered past here at Cadillacowners.com, go to the 2004-2007 CTS-V forum, and search on wheelwrap, or dash kit. It makes for some entertaining reading.

And for anyone interested in my current hobby, check out my MAME cabinet build:

Ah, the winds of change.

Specifically, the winds of change here at Cadillac Forums.

Since there's a lot of new(ish) members here that might be reading this, a little context is needed for this blog to make sense. (On a side note, I've never written a "blog" before, so excuse me if I ramble).

I joined the site in 2004 when I bought my '05 STS. I had lurked here for a while, enjoying reading threads from some funny guys like BlitZer, CVP33 and Urbanski. There wasn't much action in the STS section, so I tended to hang around in the CTS-V section and chat it up with my fellow "car guys" (as opposed to the mothballs in STS). About a year later, I dumped the STS for a 2004 CTS-V and immediately started modding the hell out of it. During that period, I accrued about 10,000 posts talking about mods, helping other members, participating in goof off threads and general asshattery in my free time. I've met some great people here, some of whom have left the fold and not returned, but that's life- people sell their cars and stop posting here.

The last few months however, have been a completely different animal here on CF. For some reason, be it the average age of the latest crop of V owners or perhaps the departure of some of our "Elder Statesmen", the forums have really degenerated into a big bitch fest. It's not just a few people, either- it's 95% of the forum.

You've got people whining about noobs not using the search, but let's be honest here: If you deleted all the threads in CTS-V that have already been covered in the past (diff fixes, FG2s, Subwoofer installation, alignment, tuning, dyno results, clutch spacers, etc), the forum would be EMPTY. From time to time, it's nice to have a fresh conversation about an old topic instead of dragging out the thread from 2 years ago.

Then there's the people who can't take the slightest bit of a joke. Noobs calling the older members assholes, fags, dicks, etc, for making a funny comment in their thread or even slightly disagreeing with their idea. "DO not pollute my thread- this is SRS BSNS!!" Lighten up noob, and remember that the older members are the ones who have collected all the information you now reap the benefits of by plunking down the cash and sweat to test out these mods back when they were new. Guys like HeavyMetals and CVP33 were tinkering with Vs and figuring out how to improve them while you were in High School driving your Civic. Be appreciative.

Then there's the older members who have elevated themselves to God-Like status because of their massive post count or contributions to the forum. As I said above, we all appreciate you, but it doesn't give you the right to post 800 pictures of half naked chicks (not that I don't like half naked chicks, but come on...) or worse- ruin every thread with stupid comments that cross the line of being slightly on topic ribbing and are just disruptive. All three of these personalities combined have made the CTS-V forum an absolute train wreck to read, so I basically just ignore it now. No big deal though, because it's just an Internet forum. Right?

Apparently not. Some people are reacting to these changes in ways I can't begin to understand. I just chalk it up to "The times they are a changin'", but some people are going NUTS- leaving the forums in a huff, taking it on themselves to police the place to their own standards, or even worse: Turning on old friends here and suddenly acting like assholes.

INTERNET: SRS BSNS

Don't all of us have enough crap in our "real" lives that we don't need to create more on the Internet? And if we do come across a comment or thread we don't like, why can't we just ignore it instead of being the person who ignites today's forum shitstorm? Why does it even matter? Is a joke that some faceless person made about your spelling really going to ruin your life? The same goes for the guy who disagrees with your taste in lambo doors- is it really worth freaking out, calling them a "hater" and creating a national crisis because someone has different taste than you? It's an Internet forum, people- not the end of the world.

To paraphrase Rodney King: "Can't we *ouch!*......all just *ouch!*........get along?"

I can't wait for my '99 Fleetwood Limited to arrive. I found it on cars.com and it took me a month to make the decision of whether or not I wanted it. Not only was it 3000 miles away from home, but I didn't want to buy a car without a warranty and I tried to avoid private party sales. I flew from Boston to Santa Monica
to see the car and it was love at first sight. It was more beautiful in person and worth the trip to buy it. With only 53,000 miles on the clock, I hope to enjoy my Cadillac for many miles to come. Now I'm patiently waiting for a call from the transport company with news that my car has arrived. Ever since I was a kid I dreamed of owning a Caddy. I am thrilled that this forum allows me to consult such a huge reference to all things related to Cadillacs. Now that I'm a proud owner I can join an entire genre of Cadillac owners and enthusiasts at a spot on the web dedicated to this higher standard in the automotive world.

Hello. My name is Sal Collaziano. I'm the owner and operator of the CadillacOwners.com domain and website. I'd like to say that I'm also the operator of the forum you've all grown to love and appreciate - but I cannot. I have an excellent team that keeps on top of just about everything regarding daily activities around here. It's a thankless job (which they don't even get paid for) - so I hope you've come to appreciate all they do...

While I may not be at the forefront of all that's happening in our very busy community - I do have the final word on important decisions. That being said, I have a few important standards for how I expect things to be run around here. So here is my pledge to you...

o I pledge to assure you of a clean and comfortable community environment.
o I pledge to promote diversity and respect for all human differences.
o I pledge to provide prompt, friendly and courteous service to those who need it.
o I pledge to respond in a rapid, sensitive and non-confrontational manner to requests that will enhance your experience.
o I pledge to provide you with an experience that will encourage you to return.

I also expect this from our members and our team.

This site is not a business. It's a hobby that I plan on having as a part of my life from now until the day I die. In other words, the website, forum, community and YOU are very important to me. I have many, many web properties - but CadillacOwners.com is my "baby". I expect it to be taken care of in such a way that we can see continued growth, support and the formation of brand new relationships for many decades to come.

If you are NOT having a positive experience here, than *I* am ultimately the person you need to speak with. Click here to contact me.

Thank you,

To all the cool people on this site that have helped me with questions thanks! There are some pretty kick ass people here...

I lurked on this site for about two weeks before I registered. I wanted to feel this place out to see if it was just a bunch of assholes talking about shit they didn't know about. Shortly I found that there are some very very knowledgeable people here, and of course some shitheads!! It took about a month and I happily paid to be a supporting member after I used the stealthV intake tube design and the install for a short sifter from the top thread. As soon as the shifter was in I felt like I robbed the site in some way. I drove right home got the master card out and got my banner!!! That is 100% fuck'n quality sh!t that comes from this site. People taking their time to document the way it should be done so others don’t have to suffer though it.
One late night I ventured into the Tiffany thread, I could see that this was the "bro's" thread. So instead of just jumping in, I asked if I could play, and got a nice welcome to the Tiff thread. Tiff isn't about “s w a d e”, although there is some of the best “s w a d e” every made there. It's about Bro's and just somewhere to talk shit and hang out, while waiting for someone to post something in the normal threads. I know I am still new here and appreciate the welcome! I've seen people help out others here with parts, technical info when stuck, and installing shifters etc for free (well some beers) and that is what a group of people on a forum are supposed to do! Some come here talk shit, take free info and complain about stupid shit. If you aren't paying you have no room to be complaining!!!!!

The title "to each his own" I had foose 20" rims on my car, they came with the car. Although they weren't my cup of tea they were what I had at the time. I have thick skin, been in the military to long to bleed like a bitch from words, but some here jump on this fuck'n bandwagon of having to have the same opinion as guys that have been here a long time. The point of mod'n your car is to make it reflect who YOU are not everyone else, hince to each his own!

cars are like women, you have to ride them hard or they will find another driver!

where do i start? its been a tough journey here in the caddy forum. when i first joined i honestly expected it to be a group of old grey haired men who liked to let there V sit in the garage rather then actually drive it. boy was i wrong, its more like a highschool. kinda like your first day being a frosh.. not knowing anyone, your equipment or how to use it for that matter. i will say i did get a pretty warm welcome in my introduction except for one memeber giving me a list of things not to do (dont brag about 20's, no lambo doors, flame thrower kits, giant wings, ect) its kinda like the school of hard knocks, ask stupid questions and get stupid answers.. i learned fairly quick that unless you have pretty thick skin around this place you wont last long. thats probably why it took me so long to become a supporting member (i am glad i am now)

at first it was just a place for me to get info and not so much a social connection. being that here in the wild wild west a V is a very rare find i needed to connect to fellow V owners. this is probably about the time i first stumbled upon the OG tiffany thread or whatever form it was in at the time (RIP). i am not sure i ever really understood what the purpose of urbi's old thread was. although i think that was the beauty behind it. i like to compare it to DR PHIL. you get all dirt and the latest current events going on around the forum, opinions on stuff you really don't care about and you never miss a beat in the 04-07 clubhouse. not to mention all the random shit (can i say that)

i realized you need to be careful when posting because some say it can be a infraction for being a :postwhore: and we only have room for 1 (i wont mention any names) some say it doesn't mean anything at all, but lets face it, post count is everything around this place. i remember logging on one morning to see a thread that was dedicated to a member who single handedly posted on every topic on the entire page before anyone else could! talk about dedication, how do you compete with that?

swadé.. pronounced (suh-way-d) or more common around these parts as napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish. commonly confused as the material to hold your ass in place while "competitive driving". i have searched high and low for where swadé started and i cant seem to locate it. i may never know.. i do know this, swadé is not a tangible object, you cant purchase it with your casino cash. its something that you have to find.

example:

lots of swadé

it also can be found in V's.. i quote from member onebadcad "swadé is the new, well almost new, revolutionary material that will ensure the V rules the roost on track days. Simple conclusion of the progression of the proven dynamics will verify that the V utilizes this unique, cunning application to stabilize one's derriere beyond human foresight, and coupled with the ingenious inclusion of napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish pants and napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish undergarments, the experienced results are exponentially heightened to a crest unseen by most combustible competitors" now being kind of new myself i have not fully seen what swadé can do, but come V day 3, i will. i have asked the powers that be for a "swadé" smilie so hopefully we will see that soon..

i had mentioned earlier about stepping up to the SUPPORTING MEMBER status. i am not gonna lie, at first i had no intention in donating any funds. but after using this forum and its very knowledgeable members numerous times it started to feel like stealing. i had a change of heart and it felt good to give back to my community. i recommend any member that has not donated to do so. after all the next time you get stuck in ohio with a bad tranny, or stumble into a good deal, or just wanna mess around in tiffany.. remember it wouldn't be possible without supporting members.

Not sure where to begin this one. Do I go back in time and give a gruesomely boring list of details of things that have went on in my life, in order to explain the way I feel, today, about Caddy Forums or do I just jump right into to my current thoughts on the new Tiffany thread and spare everyone from having to read even more of my crap? Decisions, decisions.

I guess I'll spare everyone today. The new Tiffany still has potential, it's still new and everyone, especially some up-and-comers, wants to be involved in the new thread. Girl pics are good, but everything in moderation. We should limit pics like that to, say, 250 at a time. And sure it's just my opinion, but I like a good argument every once in a while. I didn't get involved in the toysnot/devil_concours thread, as I don't know and don't care about Audi's, but that really made the old Tiffany come alive after the merger of the two. I guess you need a toysnot/MikeNice character to step in ever so often and really test the forums ability to get down and dirty.

I was really hoping for some retribution from TBJS last night, but I would say that he doesn't have much of a relationship with the post count leaders of that thread to really talk some smack. Even with that said, it was still quite a puss out for a self proclaimed spammer king. For those that follow MMA, I'm gonna quote the current UFC lightweight champ, BJ Penn, and say "If you tap from strikes, you're a bitch.". That's you TBJS, you're a bitch. :yup:

And for all you other bitches: Why am I the only one blogging here? Come on fuckers, Sal works hard to give us stuff that other boards don't have. Fucking use it.

Today I woke up at the crack of noon. The weather was great, as predicted, and it seemed to have all the makings of a very wonderful day. As usual, I crawled out of bed and before eating lunch, I log onto my favorite websites to check my User CPs. Sometimes I do this in fear as I know I have started an internet fight the night before and I dread having to repeat the same things because people have such low comprehension, but not this time. This time I expected to the the normal smatterings of useless crap in threads that I wished I had never subscribed to, however, that wasn't the case at all. Well, it wasn't entirely the case. Today I also found that my favorite thread on the Cadillac forums had been locked.

Now at first glance I thought nothing of it. As a few times before this thread had been locked to clean up certain rule breaking posts. And it had been having some issues lately, so no biggie, right? I would soon discover that was not the case at all. It really had been permanently locked. Just when I had breached the top ten posters in the thread. My goals to be number one were lost for good. But wait. What do I see on the first page of the 04-07 CTSV forum? A new thread with a similar name as the old one. "Tiffany". I'm not quite sure how that name came about. It is either a alter ego of the original poster or he is in fact hermaphroditic, as I have assumed since day one.

The old thread will be missed, but a new Tiffany is nice. A fresh start. The old represented so much, but like the world we live in now it's time to put the bad stuff behind us and move on. We need to keep our heads up and make the most of what we have. The new Tiffany can allow that to happen. A lot of things from the past are better off forgotten, but some are still relevant in today's Tiffany. Napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish, college girls, titties, college girl titties covered in napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish all still very much relevant as we move ahead.

God mother-fucking damn it!!! I can't even blog without having my fucking words changed into something else. Fucking napped-finished leather, or a variety of fabrics with a brushed finish!! I fucking forgot what the fuck I was even fucking saying, Mother Fucking Bitch!! FUCK!!
