it says pdf file is damaged and can not be repaired, first couple of times i tried, it down loaded about 2.9 of the 4.4 , if you can can you send it to me in an email to wallaby11966@aol.com thank you |

i have a 500 cad motor with all new parts that im going to put in a car for my dad . ive built a few motors in my 41 years but mostly small blk chevy , the basics are the same but im afraid i will leave some thing out or do someting wrong . the motor is a 75 or76 ive got the pdf file , but it goes from 68-73. does any one out there have a video of some one building a 500 step by step. |

I built up a '76 500 OK. Like you, I've built a bunch of Chev SB engines. I think the file for the '73 should work OK for you. It's a straight-forward engine to work on. Timing the cam is different than a Chevy, but using the marks on the sprockets will get you there. Number 1 cyl isn't at firing- top-center like a Chevy when the timing marks are lined up. |

For folks doing a re-build on a 472/500, there is a stainless steel front plate available from www.cad500parts.com (Flashcraft) The original front sheet metal plate is often rusted/pitted and prone to leaks. The water pump is mounted there etc. Last time I looked, the new plate is $125.
