    F/S 472 parts

I bought a 500 and it turned out to be a 1970 472. So to make it a 500 I'm selling the crank and pistons, I'm keeping the connecting rods. MTS wants $200 for a crank that garunteed to be good within .030 grinding, I'll sell this one for $200 and it won't need more than .010. Pistons will be going for $250 they appear to be in perfect shape. I'll be getting pics up asap. thanks.

Is there a reason that you HAVE to have a 500? The 472 is a great engine, faster revving.

no real reason, but I'm not in any hurry to get this project done so I figured I might as well do it how I want it. It really just boils down to the personal satisfaction of knowing I have a jeep powered by more than 500ci. bragging rights i guess.

Uh, not trying to start a fight, but why are you asking as much for a used crank as a freshly machined/inspected one costs? Unless you've magnafluxed and mic'd yours, what you have is a core.

I agree as well. I bought a complete 472 for less than what you want to sell your crankshaft for! And new pistons aren't much more than what you are asking for "cores".

I'm a moron, I completly misread the price sheet on the MTS web site. Make me an offer if you want them.

Well, we're not calling you a moron! Just suggesting that your parts won't sell at those prices!
So you are dead set on building a 500?

I know your not calling me one, I'm calling myself one for my apparent inability to read.
Yes I am dead set on building a 500 but I'm not sure if I'm going to use this 472 as a basis for it. I found a supposedly complete running 500 at a junk yard a few hours from my house for $300 so I'll probably go check that out some time soon and if its all it is cracked up to be I'll buy it and just sell this 472.
