i have a 73 cadillac hearse that had a 472 in it the motor is not any good and i found an 84 cadillac for sale with a 4100 in it and i was wondering if any knew if it has the same bolt pattern as the 472?
Are you sure you want to swap a 7.7 L for a 4.1 L in a 5000-6000 pound car? I think you may want to rethink your strategy. Your fuel mileage is going to get worse, and its going to be worse than a lawnmower as far as power goes. Not to mention the fact that the motor will probably wear out twice as fast. May I suggest rebuilding the 472 that's in there already?

Re: 472 transmission bolt pattern
I suppose it could be done, but most people swap out 4100s for 472/500s for a reason. A 4100 is badly underpowered in a 3900lb Deville, but a 6000lb hearse wouldn't even be able to sustain freeway speeds I don't think. Plus the 4100 is FI, which would make the swap kind of a PITA. Find another big block.
