    Shifter Issues

    I have a 77 Eldorado with a 425 engine, and Th-425 transmission.

It seems that lately it's difficult to "shift' into the right gear ie from park to drive. The lever seems sloppy and doesn't ratchet. The gear "pointer" also doesn't line up well with the "P R N D" letters.

    Otherwise the car drives great.

Is there a simple way to adjust this myself, or should I have a transmission shop make this adjustment.

I get nervous around transmissions, and I don't want to screw anything up.

    thanks for the help

You're most likely in need of the linkage bushing kit(s)...
Cadillac PROBABLY still has them, tho I can't tell you what # to ask for...

Otherwise, any adjustments made will just adversely affect other positions.
