    500 cid head question?

    Hello,

I've got a 74 eldo with 500 engine, I just need to know what yr. did Cadillac set the heads up to run on unleaded gasoline?

Also with the oil pump being external. Is the pickup screen located in the pan?

I'm getting ready to revive it after 10yrs, and will definitely have head work done if nothing else.

It has been said that these heads are hard enough to not need hardened seats because of the high nickel content. I'd have them inspected by a reputable shop. If the seats are in good shape, leave them alone.

The pick-up is located inside the pan.
