A way to avoid this failure in the future is to never drop the transmission in gear when the engine is on high idle. The governor gear gets hammered when doing that. Driveline play maked it worse.

New gear is in.....It solved my problems, now it changes gears like
a champ, I also rerouted som funny looking vacum hoses to the carb and adjusted the idle, now it runs VERY smooth! I REALLY love this car!!!

You going with a dual exhaust setup? You are dumping the restrictive collector, right? What size pipes?

I'm going with a "stock" exhaust...I know its not the best, but I really
want this car to be quiet!

You can make it very quiet and still let it breath a lot better. Even if you aren't doing any modifications to the engine, a dual exhaust really helps. That goes double if you are changing cams, etc.
