My Caddy Is Making An Odd Noise

I have a 1977 Eldorado that I absolutely love, and when I make a left turn at low speeds, a loud rubbing noise is made. The sound continues even when I release the brake pedal. The noise quites down when I straighten up the wheel, and speed up. I can feel a vibration in the steering column. The front bearings were replaced about a year ago, as well as new pads, rotors, and shocks.

Could a brake caliper be stuck?

Any idea what this could be?

    Thanks for the help.

    It's the CV joint.

Re: My Caddy Is Making An Odd Noise

Thanks for your reply to my question. I had a couple quick
follow-up questions I was hoping you could help me
with. The replacement CV Half-Shaft Assembly is
reasonable, under $70 for both the right and left.
What concerns me is the installation. How difficult a
job is this for a novice to do. About how much would
it cost for a shop to do the work for me?

Also, since I am going to be replacing the entire CV
assembly anyway, is there an immediate need to get
this work done? Can anymore damage occur as a result
of not getting this fixed right away? I am a little
crunched for time, and it might take a while to get to
    it.

Thanks again for the help, I appreciate it.

    Jacob

Re: My Caddy Is Making An Odd Noise

    Hey there.

I really wouldn't know about replacing them, but I'm sure it would be possible for you to do it. I was looking at in in my shop manual and it doesn't seem that complicated. I can scan some pages for you if you'd like.

AFAIK you can go a little bit without getting it fixed, since the CV will be replaced anyways. Of course, this is not advised, and definitly not for a long period time, but I wouldn't worry about it.
